We Need Your Support NOW !!!
Hi All
I attended a meeting of the Nottingham commuters club on
Tuesday 18-9-01 where it became blatantly obvious that the councils only real concern is public transport i.e. buses and the tram and pushbikes. The old chestnut of PTW's safety was the only excuse, for not taking full advantage of them. The
improvement of the training needed to gain a PTW licence seems not to be enough, they want to see more training for PTW riders so; myself and Gary Hope from the IAM would like to get both the Notts IAM and Notts MAG together to promote both
organisations and the advanced riding test. The idea being to put Nottingham City Council in a position where they have to a) back the initiative and b) have no alternative but to support PTW use. The only way to beat the council is play them
at there own game and to do this we need to get both organisations to work together to promote further training (there may be a chance for Notts MAG members to get a deal on advanced training). We will need to get the backing of people like
rider training schools, Motorcycle Industry Association (I can do this with a phone call to the MIA), Police, Insurance companies and anyone else that will influence and support such an initiative and most importantly YOURSELVES
I will be talking to Gary over the weekend and I would appreciate it if you would take a few minuets to reply with your thoughts. I can't do this on my own I need you all to help it is VERY important that we do every thing we can to back this, it will involve trolling around visiting training schools and most likely keep us all busy over the winter and will need a lot of patience and commitment from us all. I know its short notice but there is a lot to do and I would appreciate your comments before the weekend and I hope that Nottingham MAG can tell Nottingham IAM we are ready for this challenge and
WE ARE UP FOR THE CHALLENGE. Ride free and keep the rubber side down
