Chapel of Our Lady of Refuge

Chapel of Saint Ann

Homepage
This chapel was origionally named the Emporer's Chapel and was built in 1512.  This gothic chapel is decorated with baroque styled furniture, like the altar, the pulpit ,the confessionals and a beautifull marble floor. This chapel was closed down by the French at the end of the 18th century.  It was the first church to be reopened for the catholics.  In the 19th century it became private property  and untill this day it is monastry chapel from the Missionaries of Africa. At the end of the 19th century there were some glass-stained windows added to the church which show the life of the Virgin Mary. This chapel is also used by the English (catholic) speaking community of Antwerp.
