This museum is definatly worth a visit. The Plantin - Moretus museum is a unique combination of a patrician house and an authentic 16th century book printing company. Christoffel Plantin moved here in 1576. After his death in 1589 his son in law and heir Jan Moretus took over and laid the foundations for the Officina Platiniana. The library and the archive contain around 25 000 old volumes, 638 manuscripts dating from the 9th till the 16th century, beautiful examples of Medieval texts and Miniature art, 154 books printed before 1501. Also an extended collection of source material, old company accounts, correspondance Plantin exchanged with authors, business contracts etc...
2 Old printing presses from Jan Moretus can also be seen here, they are the oldest in the world.
