My jeep's story
The Solex carb is a nifty piece of work that will make your jeep sing.  These carbs are still being built which is most likely the main advantage over the WO Carter.  If anyone knows where they are making new Carters let me know!

Historically, it can be argued that using the Solex is correct for the World War 2 period.  Consider that many jeeps went thru refit and repair in France in French depots.  These  jeeps were often returned to US Army service.  As evidence, I have included a page from Army Motors, the original publication by the US Army during WW2.

While not exactly GI, it was in use and thus can be used on a restored jeep of the end to post-war era jeep.

See Army Motors,
page 192 of Volume 6.

Also of interest is the
instruction sheet included with a current production Solex.

My experience with the carb has been great. Pull the choke all the way out, do not step on the throttle and mash the starter button.   And away you go!
