Waikato Secondary
Schools' Choir
Welcome to the homepage of the Waikato Secondary Schools' Choir.  Read on to find out more about the choir, our young singers, and what we have planned for the coming year.
What is the WSSC?
The Waikato Secondary Schools' Choir is made up of young people from secondary schools throughout the Waikato region of New Zealand, who love to sing and plan  to go on, as they get older, to sing in other choirs such as the New Zealand Secondary Schools' Choir or the New Zealand Youth Choir.

The WSSC is affiliated to the Waikato Youth Music Association, and is the baby of choir director Kath Woodley.  Kath dreamed four years ago of starting a choir to cater for an age range which had previously been overlooked.  The dream came to life in 1999, but due to a serious accident which took Kath out of the picture for many months, the choir was virtually put on hold until 2000.

In March 2000 Kath began again, with some of the young people she had auditioned in 1999 and with many others who were interested.  She started with a "Serious Singers" workshop, and then auditioned at schools throughout the Waikato, narrowing it down finally to 30 eager and dedicated young singers.

2000 was the first full year for the choir, and we look forward to many years to come.
