| in the spring of 2005, a group of first year medical students joined together to form an a cappella group. with enthusiastic members and little time, they put a performance together for the anatomy memorial service of 2005. they decided to continue with this new musical outlet at johns hopkins. later that year, the group was fortunate enough to find themselves supported by a faculty advisor, dr. mark teaford. this allowed them to acquire funding and increase the chances for the group's continued involvement at hopkins. the group performed under their new name, the note-a-chords. they focused on community service oriented events like the turtle derby. the fall of 2005 saw the first addition to the group since their founding. the class of 2009 doubled the size of the group and ensured a continuation of this now officially recognized organization at the school of medicine. since the founding of the noteachords, they have performed at the anatomy memorial service of 2005, turtle derby of 2005, and holiday caroling for administrators, students, and patients. they hope to continue their involvement with the hopkins community in 2006 with a return to the anatomy memorial service and the turtle derby, as well as a spring concert to send off the second years, the original founders of the group. |
