FRIENDSHIPS - PART 2

"D/amn it!" Joey cursed as she entered the apartment the heel of her right shoe broken.

Without looking she threw it across the room in the frustration as a surprised Pacey caught the offending object.

"Hey Jo. What's wrong?"

"I've had a horrible day that's what's wrong!" Joey snapped throwing her briefcase on the couch before heading to her bedroom with Pacey following her.

"So what happened?"

"The secretary misplaces an important proposal meaning which means that I have to redo the entire thing. And the presentation I had in the afternoon....awful doesn't begin to describe. The clients were like 'oohhh..we love that but maybe you could change...' Basically the pompous ass of a woman in charge did her conniving and snidest best to reject everything we worked so hard to accomplish...all because she's new and she's strutting her stuff...trying to seem impressive with her bosses even though we have a previous agreement with them. And Jenkins the bumbling idiot has totally muddled up next week presentation for a new major client. It's been one disastrous headache after another. When I finally get out of the office I have to fight for a cab, get stuck in traffic and then my d/amn right heel breaks."

"What you need is the famous Pacey Witter hug - a cure to cure all ills."

With that Pacey enveloped Joey into a huge hug, patting her back and soothing away all the tension with a simple embrace. She stood there in his arms for the longest of moments finally relaxing. Then the buzzer rang.

"S/hit!" A look of frantic panic flew across Joey's face. "What time is it?"

"Just about seven why?"

"I'm meant to be going out with Jen now and I'm no where ready. Quick you stall her while I get ready."

Joey pushed Pacey out of her room, stripping her clothes off in the process as she frantically searched for something to wear.

"Hey Jen. You're looking stunning as usual." Pacey greeted their friend.

Jen wearing a skimpy, decadent red dress, her hair in wild curls, looked ready to party the night away. She grinned at Pacey.

"And you look like your ugly Witter self."

"I'm hurt. Real hurt."

"So where's Joey? I want to get out of here."

"Nuh huh. Before you can take my little girl out there are a few ground rules. Firstly I want her back before midnight. That's her curfew. Any later and I will be a very angry Mr Pacey Witter. Do you understand? Good. Next, no drinking, no smoking, no drugs. No boys. I want my Jo to remain as sweet and pure as normal. I don't want you spreading any of your bad influence on my girl. So that also means no making out with random strangers. No strange clubs to pick up guys. In fact don't even let her talk or go near another member of the male species. I'm going to be checking for hickeys and what 's not...."

"Are you finished Pacey?" Jen asked amusedly.

"Not even close. And that is Mr Pacey Witter to you, young lady." Pacey stated wagging his finger.

He froze mid-movement as Joey appeared from out of her room. Her hair in slight wavy curls was tousled up and pinned on top. The makeup was dark and heavy but still simple adding a seductive look to Josephine Potter that was only accentuated by the leather pants and a skimpy pink top. Pacey tried to remember how to breathe while reminding himself that Joey was only a friend.

"Ready to go Jen?"

"Sure let's go! Bye Pacey." Jen was out the door.

Joey quickly followed but not before pecking Pacey on the cheek, "Bye Pace. Don't wait up."

The door shut.

"Did I mention you can't leave home dressed like that!" Pacey managed weakly to the closed door before grabbing onto a nearby table to steady his shaking legs.
