Welcome to my pinup pages!
For the purposes of this page, "Pinup Art" is the genre of cheescake art and photography that was present (mainly) in the 1930's, 1940's, and 1950's. This style of photography and/or art captured the innocence of our nation, as well as the underlying sensual nature of its citizens. The images weren't graphic, by todays standards, and nudity was not a requirement.
It is very refreshing to see artists depict models who don't look like rail-thin heroin addicts. The pinup models were definately women, and they had the curves to prove it. You would most likely find art of this kind in the world of advertising. Calendars, phone blotters, and magazine ads were prime areas where the pinup artist, or photographer, could express himself.... or herself. A surprising number of very popular pinup artists and photographers were women.
I hope you enjoy the art that I've collected here. I hope to add another section to this site that will included pinup style art that was painted on the nose of aircraft from World War II right up until the present day.
