POSSIBLE PIGEON ROOSTING/NESTING SITE UNDER THREAT FROM DEVELOPERS IN NORWICH CITY CENTRE

Wednesday, 18 June 2003 – Visited the site of an empty building in Pottergate around 12.45pm to check on information passed to us in an e-mail message by a member of the public.

We have been informed that a derelict building on Pottergate is being used by pigeons as a roosting/nesting site and that contractors are shortly due to move in to redevelop the site.

The building is a large three storey brick built warehouse/factory type premises on the junction of Pottergate and Fisher’s Lane.

There are many broken windows and holes in the fabric allowing access for pigeons.

Witnessed many pigeons flying in and out of the building via these apertures.

Noticed a further derelict building adjacent to this one, also with broken windows.  This is probably another roosting place for pigeons.

Selling agent – Watsons, Norwich.

Large board displaying the words “Now Sold” affixed to side of building, visible from Pottergate when coming from the city.

Our informant has offered to collect any abandoned chicks to hand rear.

Further information to follow. . .
