Marsh Demo Report – Norwich -Tuesday, 16th April 2002
A small,
but very visual and audible demo took place outside the large Queen’s Road East
Anglian Regional HQ premises of Marsh Insurance on
Tuesday, 16th April from 3pm to 5.30pm.
Around 10 activists from the Norwich, Gt
Yarmouth & King’s Lynn
local groups turned out to impress upon the Marsh management,
staff and security that their dark dealings with HLS have not been forgotten
and never will be forgotten until the company ceases all business with the evil
animal torturers at Huntingdon and Occold. This was the
fifth occasion the company has been demo’d since the
campaign against them began in earnest back in February. Once again, passers by and queuing vehicles
on the busy main road were leafleted and an eye-catching array of banners and
posters were prominently displayed for all to see. Again, Marsh were considerably inconvenienced
not only by the cacophony of noise coming from the determined protesters, but
also by virtue of the fact that their front entrance was kept securely locked
for the entire duration of the demo, forcing all staff and visitors to make a
long and circuitous route around the back of the building to access their
offices! Their now tarnished image
wasn’t improved by two highly visual police vehicles parked right in front of
their main entrance either! All in all,
another very successful action with the perpetrators of animal abuse being left
in no doubt about the growing strength of feeling against their evil
business. Actions continued into the
evening with a number of
demonstrators regrouping at 8pm and moving on to HLS’s notorious Occold hell-hole
in neighbouring Suffolk for an after dark protest.
2002 –
Finish HLS!
