The coverage area largely fed into one high school super-sectional before the advent of class expansion in 2007, and that is how the boundaries were determined. They continue to be this way. Since Northern Illinois Sports Beat is the only locally-driven media entity that covers such a large area, word about your business will reach a great distance, which is about the maximum anyone would be willing to travel for a business visit. Most newspapers are restricted on space, and can only cover things and write stories based on what size the advertisements are on the paper. The newspaper industry has become very, very dependent on advertising space that it affects the quality of what is being written. Game articles are shorter, analysis has been replaced by fluff and tally marks; and these are the things that detract people from reading newspapers. If they don�t read the paper, they won�t see your ad. Then the snowball effect takes over. Northern Illinois Sports Beat won�t give its readers unnecessary fluff just to showcase itself, or worry about survival. NISB is focused on what its audience wants, not what the source wants. NISB�s Advertising Options and Information There is only one available space on Northern Illinois Sports Beat at this time: 1) The top of the NISB homepage The advertisement is sure to get people�s attention because of its location on the page (we call it the �Banner Ad�). There will be more spaces on the website in the future. We are currently working on getting an advertisement on the top of the message boards, one that overrides the current banner ad on there, which comes with the message board set-up package. The banner will be the same size as the site�s front page logo, the �black box.� We are asking that prospective advertisers have a pre-made graphic in place ready for release (at this time we don�t have the opportunity to create graphics at this time). Because of that, we are making our monthly cost low. Prospective advertisers pay a monthly fee of $200*. Their advertisement will be put up on the site on the first day of the month, and taken down on the last day of the month. The arrangements need to be made before the month of advertising begins, with agreements made one week before the end of the month, and payment due to NISB at the end of the month (Postmark ahead of time if necessary). No payment means no ad to put up � and the agreement will be forfeited. (Payment schedule is at the bottom of this page) Since there is only one space available, it will be a first-come-first-serve action. Meaning, the first advertiser to be willing will get it if all works out. There may be a waiting list for the next month, or the next space. At the end of the month, the business will either be sent to the end of the waiting list (to ensure other businesses a spot), or suggested to another space on the website. Each advertisement will have a link to its website. If there is no website, then an information page will be created at no charge with any information you would like on there.
