| By Jon Lewis NISB Writer STOCKTON - The Blackhawks welcomed in the Orangeville Broncos into town for homecoming 2008 and gave the crowd a good game early. Opening the game on the Orangeville side of the field after an onside kick by Orangeville, Stockton went to work. After a roughing the passer call against the Broncos put the ball inside the ten-yard line, Brandon Wampfler carried the ball into the end zone, for the first time this year for Stockton. Wamphler however didnt return to the game after that play. Stockton came out really pumped up, said Orangeville Coach Tony Golembewski. After the extra-point failed and the Broncos had a three and out, a muffed punt gave Stockton excellent field position at the twenty-eight yard-line. The Blackhawks went to work driving the ball past the ten-yard line but a plethora of penalties stalled the drive. That woke the Broncos up and they went to work feeding their duel headed running attack, featuring Riley Kubatzke and Steve Snider. Early in the second quarter Kutazke had a seventeen-yard touchdown run followed by a Clayton Shick extra-point to make the score 7-6 in favor of the visitors. Early on it seemed like holes werent opening up and then in the second quarter Bronco football took over and the holes just kept getting bigger and bigger, said Kubatzke. Then on the last play of the first half Snider took it to pay dirt from one yard out, set up by a twenty-yard pass from Trace Hanson to Austin Cramer. After a Shick extra-point the score at halftime was 14-6 Orangeville. To start the second half the Broncos went to their bread-and-butter running the ball with Snider and Kubatzke. Snider capped the drive with a one yard touchdown and Shick tacked on the extra-point to make the score 21-6 Orangeville. We came out, changed up some formations and really started to wear on them up front, Golembewski said. On the following drive Stockton started at its own forty and went backwards from there, eventually punting from its own end zone. A short punt that barely stayed in bounds, Cramer returned it to the fifteen and yet another late hit on Stockton followed. It put the Broncos in excellent field position, and Snider then punched it in from seventeen yards out. A Shick PAT followed to make the score 28-6 Broncos. Next week both teams will be participating in homecoming contests as Stockton will travel to Polo and Orangeville will host Galena, ranked #1 by the Associated Press in Class 1A. |
