To My Web Design Help
Here, I will share whatever knowledge and skills I have gained, to implement the process of web design. If I happen to receive emails about web design, please do not take it personally if I can't answer your questions. I am still in the learning process, and some things, such as "triple border layering" and "image scripting", I have not yet figured out how to do on my own. These tasks require a greater knowledge base of HTML Coding, that I have not learned. I try to search the web for different tutorials to learn things, when time permits. It is my dream to one day, be able to take a couple of classes in graphic design, and to own software such as Paint Shop Pro, to make my own images and sets.
When designing a web page, you can pretty much put whatever you want on it, if you have a basic working knowledge of computers and HTML. What do I mean by "basic working knowledge? Well, first and foremost, you need to be able to "save your work". I cannot stress enough, how important it is to frequently save your work, as you are building your page. Even if you have already saved your page, you need to resave every time you add new stuff. If not, your web page will not be updated, and images and info will be lost. Secondly, you need to be able to "save images" to a directory on your computer, to be able to retrieve them and "upload" to your web builder. Keep in mind that as you save stuff to directories, such as "My Pictures", it is a good practice to maintain housekeeping. Create different "Folders" within your directories to save groups of images. (Examples of folders: "Backgrounds", "Banners", "Buttons", "Sets", "Images", "Animated Images", etc.) The music midis I use on my pages are saved, in their own folder, in the directory "My Music". Get the idea? Good! We're on a roll. I'm still learning that good housekeeping of my folders is crucial, otherwise you have images and stuff scattered in clutter. Next, you need to have access to a web builder, such as "Page Builder", powered by Yahoo Geocities. They also happen to provide web hosting, both free and paid, which is usually the case anywhere companies provide page building software. While Yahoo Geocities has some draw backs, they are really a pretty good host to meet my needs. (You might notice as you browse my website that there are NO ADS popping up on the pages.) This is because I do not have FREE web hosting. I pay for it in order to get rid of those annoying page ads. While free is always better, it is worth it to have an ad free website that people can enjoy without being turned off by ads. Plus, the monthly fee is really minimal. But like anything, there are always pros and cons when selecting a web host. There is an abundance of Tutorials on the WWW that can help you learn more about web designing, and to get the most out of your website. Visit the NEXT page to learn more about these tutorials, and find links to some of them.
