| I have come across a lot of different websites that feature some VERY talented artists, who incorporate their art, into the world of Graphic Web Design. It is almost like visiting a genuine art gallery right in your own home. Some of these artists offer the use of their graphics in the form of "Linkware" or "Purchaseware". Linkware, is graphic web sets offered for use "free of charge", with only a signature card and link as a requirement. Purchaseware, is graphic web sets offerered to customers for a price. When purchaseware is sold, the corresponding webset is usually taken out of commision for Linkware use. A link and/or a signature card is still a requirement for those who buy Purchaseware, as it is still "somebody else's artwork". Unfortunately, there are individuals on the world wide web who do not respect "the terms of use", when uploading graphic web sets. As a result, some artists are no longer allowing their graphic artwork to be used as Linkware. The unfortunate effect of this, is that web designers who do use Linkware, are in jeopardy of losing all of their work on their own websites. Including those who do abide by specific artists' "terms of use". So, please, if you possess Linkware, be considerate and give the credit where credit is due. |
