Garrett Fennell

Garrett Fennell - About 1860
Garrett Fennell is the earliest Fennell ancestor Grandma and Grandpa were able to trace so far. It is believed that he was born about 1785 and was married to Susan Winter in 1820 in Delgany, about 20 miles south east of Dublin, Ireland. While in Ireland, Garrett and Susan had five children:
  • Martha Fennell
  • William Fennell
  • Robert Fennell
  • John Fennell Born March 20, 1826
  • Susanna Fennell
The family is thought to have emigrated to Lower Canada in 1832 near Huntingdon, Quebec. Garrett's trade was listed on Canadian census lists as both shoemaker and farmer. They lived in a 1 1/2 storey log house on 116 acres of land, some of which was farmed with oats, potatoes, corn, carrots, beans and hay.

Garrett died on February 16th, 1868. He was pre-deceased by his second wife (he was married three times) Susan Winter between the years 1841 and 1851.
