| Ernest
Fennell was the eldest child of Samuel Edward and Beatrice Fennell.
He was born in the log home "Shannon Farm", near Roland Manitoba on March
20, 1892. Ernest was employed by the Bank of Hamilton in Roland, but in
1916 he enlisted in the army and served in the trenches of France with
the Winnipeg Rifles battalion. Thier greatest battle in World War I was
their participation in the attack on Vimy Ridge in 1917. In 1926, Ernest
married Edith Mary Nichols. They had two children:
After the war, Ernest worked
as an accountant and auditor. When he retired at the age of 65, he and
Edith moved to Kelowna, British Columbia, near Mary Lou who moved there
to work as a nurse. In 1960, Ernest passed away at age 68 and three years
later Edith returned to Winnipeg and re-married. In 1965, she passed away
at age 67. |
