Edith
Nichols was born December 10, 1897 in Wesleyville, Ontario. She was
the seventh child of Thomas Nichols and Harriet Miller. After the death
of her father, her mother brought the family to Winnipeg to be near her
brother, Jabez. Edith took a course in stenography at Success College and
was employed at the Winnipeg General Hospital (later to be known as the
Health SciencesCentre) . On June 5, 1926, Edith married Ernest Fennell
and they had two children:
