Cora
Violet Quinton was the third child of George Qinton and Anna Miller,
born on November 28, 1896. Although Cora was born in Winnipeg, she moved
with her family to Spokane, Washington for nine years, until 1911. They
returned to Canada and went to Saskatchewan, where, in June of 1912, their
home was destroyed by a cyclone. Fortunately, Cora was not a home, and
the family then moved to Semans, where she eventually met Frederick Carroll.
On December 23, 1915, they were married and had nine children:
-
Ethel Mary Joyce Carroll
-
Harriet Eileen May Carroll
-
Jean Violet Madeline Carroll
-
George Quintonn Carroll
-
Inez Bernice Helen Carroll
-
Ruth
Dorothy June Carroll, born January 13, 1928
-
Robert Guthrie Miller Carroll
-
Marjorie Ina Carroll
-
Gerald Frederick Carroll
Cora was an excellent seamstress,
quilter, crotchetier and embroiderer (a talent her daugter Ruth has continued
and passed on to her daughter and granddaughter!). Cora passed away on
June 7, 1956 at age 59 from complications of diabetes and a heart condition. |
