| Ruth
Dorothy June Carroll is the sixth child of Frederick George Carroll
and Cora Violet Quinton. She was born at home weighing less than five pounds,
on January 13th, 1928. Grannie Quinton, who lived next door, took Ruth
after she had been wrapped in her blankets and placed her near the back
of the stove to keep her alive and warm. In 1939, the family moved to a
farm south of St. Malo, Manitoba and Ruth attended the one-room schoolhouse
with her brother Bob and sister Inez, three of only four English-speaking
students at the school (the other students being German, Ukrainian and
French). Later that same year, the family returned to Winnipeg, moving
quite a few times within Winnipeg.
In 1947, Ruth met Donald Fennell, and on October 16, 1948, they were married. Ruth and Donald have three children:
