WELCOME TO THE NORTH DEVON RIDING CLUB 2003
Thank you for joining the North Devon Riding Club. We re-formed this Club about 3 years ago to provide instruction, local competitions and social functions either with or without your horse in the North Devon area and we are delighted with the response we have received having over 100 members. We run a small committee to administer the club, the dreaded paperwork and organise the various fixtures, we therefore PLEASE need HELP at times to run our events "any offerings will be gratefully received"!
These are currently the type of events we run: riding instructional sessions every couple of weeks throughout the winter to suit all abilities, brief CV of the instructors attached, the majority in a dry indoor school; very informal dressage competitions in the spring (big rosettes); a summer dressage show at Arlington Court in the summer which is open to other riding clubs HELP! a Summer Show for our members and a Fun Christmas Show. We do occasionally run Jumping Competitions, unfortunately these are not too well supported so if you are interested please let Linda know as she is keen to take teams to competitions and organise coaching. We were very successful last year at the area dressage so if you are interested to help or take part in a team or as an individual please let Marilyn know.
We have an annual Le Trec Competition and various fun/pub rides and last year we raised over �1200 for ourselves and a Cancer charity from one of these. We have pub quizzes; social evenings with speakers; visits to studs; we even ran a successful fashion show last year to raise money for the club. We are also keen to be involved in Long Distance Riding if anyone is interested. If none of this grabs you then please come up with SUGGESTIONS and HELP and we will endeavour to organise it as it is YOUR CLUB!
To save you and us as committee members any embarrassment there are some RULES we have to enforce for insurance purposes as follows: Members must be responsible for both their own and their horse's safety; suitable clothing (jodhpurs) and protective equipment, (boots and hats) must be worn by all riders. (Hat standards are PAS 015, EN1384 or ASTM P1183). Muckers are not permissible and all jewellery except wedding rings and watches is strictly forbidden. We have some wonderful venues at our disposal so please at all times respect them and ensure every scrap of rubbish, hay or straw is picked up!
Please feel free to ring any committee member, ideally in the evening and keep trying if you need an answer to save us getting huge phone bills to phone you back. Having done the NAG BIT we are really pleased you have joined and we hope you really enjoy the club and please let us have your HELP and SUGGESTIONS!
