Well, the spring of 2001 I finally made it to Pittsburgh - home of my beloved ... Penguins !!!! The very first thing we did was .... go to Mellon Arena of course. I was the lucky recipient of a behind the scenes tour - the Igloo Club, Mario's box... and I'd like to send a super thank you to Stan and the box office staff for the Ice Time & the Let's Go Pens towel from the game the night before. Luckily a few pictures were taken before my camera broke - just as we were posed at the penalty box - what a shot that would have been!!

Fabulous American menu - though the presentation is a little odd ... I'm not sure that I appreciate first seeing all my selections in their raw state - particularly the poor live lobster being wheeled from table to table, from hungry patron to hungry patron ... on second thought ... at least he's not the one in the tank who is going to get eaten!! Try the bacon-wrapped scallops - and pass on the chocolate souffle.

Monterey Bay Fish Grotto 412 481-4414 This is a gorgeous restaurant at the top of Mt. Washington. The seafood is excellent, but is surpassed by the view. Floor to ceiling windows let you gaze out at all the city lights reflected in the three rivers. The full menu is available in either the dining room or the bar. The shrimp cocktails are funky, being served with dry ice, the crabcakes are legendary, and the sea bass is very good.
