The Sheboygan parents having sex Common Council passed an ordinance Monday night that essentially bans sex offenders from moving anywhere within the city limits.

The council, at its Committee of the Whole meeting on Sept. 22, unanimously recommended passing the sex offender ban with the 2,000-foot limit.
Sex offenders already registered in Sheboygan can continue to live in their homes, but if they want to move somewhere else within the city limits, they would have to get approval from the committee.
About 1,300 sex offenders have registered with the Sheboygan Police Department since 2006, police said.
Several residents from an area on the northwest side of the city attended Monday night's meeting to urge the council to keep the buffer at 2,000 feet to keep potential sex offenders from moving into their neighborhood.
