                                           THE BOOK OF ME

During this semester, as a project, you will write a book, a personal memory book. It will consist of your memories and thoughts from your entire life. It will be due on September 25,, but you must begin now and follow the scheduled due dates in order to receive the most points and produce the best project. Please follow carefully these instructions. Your ability to do that will positively impact your grade..

Weekly Chapters:
Each chapter will be due on the given due date (Tuesdays and Thursdays). Points will be deducted for late submissions. See schedule Each chapter�s rough draft should be a minimum of one typed page with the chapter number and title centered in 14-point bold font. The text should be 12 point Times New Roman or Arial, double-spaced and left justified. Margins should be standard on each page. Each page should have a header with your first initial and last name in 9 point font in the upper right hand corner.   Note: This you will remove on your final draft. Proofread and revise your roughest draft before submitting a revised rough draft to the teacher.

Final Product:
The final product will be presented in a book form designed by you that reflects who you are. This might be a photo album or scrapbook setup, a loose-leaf notebook, or anything else you might design. The chapters will be enhanced with items that help to illustrate your chapters, such as pictures, locks of hair, invitations, keepsakes, drawings, newspaper/magazine clippings, brochures, etc. Each chapter will have been corrected from the earlier chapter submissions (rough drafts) and will be redone on your chosen paper, with your chosen fonts and colors to reflect each chapter and the author. The final order will be as follows:

                                      "I Am" poem
                               When I Was a Child� poem
                                Chapters 1-9 (in order, of course)
                     Letter of gratitude to someone who has impacted your life

Grades:
Each rough draft chapter will count 100 points in the daily category of your grade if you follow the forma t in the instructions above and submit them when due. Points will be deducted for failure to do so. The final book is due September 25, 2008. No projects will be accepted after that date. Remember that tests, essays, and projects are ___% of your grade. All corrections must have been made from the earlier chapter submissions. Half of The Book of Me grade will come from creativity, since the essays will have already been graded once; (they will be graded again).

If your book is complete (and revised from rough draft) and shows creativity, neatness, and thought, your grade will be no less than an 80. The more thorough and the more creative you are in decorating your book and pages, the higher the grade will be. Any book that does not contain all 8 chapters plus extras will receive a lower grade, regardless of creativity. Any book that is a �bunch of junk� will not receive the creativity portion of the grade. Any book not handed in by the due date will not be accepted for any reason whatsoever.   I encourage you to submit final projects early and receive five points extra credit.
