January 2003 Meeting

4-H Meeting

For our January meeting, we had lots of activities! First, Sue Rockenbach helped the kids make silly hats from folded newspaper--in all sorts of styles, and Lorene Taylor brought out last year's Fair Book and various project bulletins. Then we had our meeting, discussed upcomining events, a bottle collection fund raiser, and a reminder about the upcoming auction. Janice Marsh-Prelesnik talked about gathering supplies and making small dolls for the poor children in the middle east, which we will do at our next meeting. President Courtney Rockenbach brought her archery display from the fair and talked about the archery project. She also described Ketterun Center, where she has been as part of the 4H Environmental Council. Marisol Holman asked if our group would like to correspond (in English) with pen-pals in Spain and also in Texas. Her Spanish students are already corresponding with one group of kids in Spain.
After the meeting, The "Old Lady Inda Shoe Players" (Garth, Courntney, Sue, Jack) played and Janice Marsh-Prelesnik taught us all a "Country Dance." We could learn something like that as a Folkways Project for the Fair.
And there was even more! After all that, we also made Valentines to distribute at a senior residence on Feb. 14. Thanks so much to Linda Hoard for bringing the Valentine "makings" and the trash bags for our can & bottle drive.

In February we had an outing to hand out Valentines and provide entertainment--singing (including a Chinese song for Chinese New Year), doing the country dance we had practiced, playing the recorder-- at a senior citizen's home. Afterward, we had a potluck and went sledding!

February 2003 Meeting

Our February 28th meeting project was to put together small health packets for children in the Mideast, including some finger puppets we made. We also collected our 4-H auction donations. It was really cold in that big room!
