Our homeschoolers' 4-H club is the 5-H 4-H, a club of the Kalamazoo County 4-H (even though we don't all live in Kalamazoo County!) The fifth "H" is for homeschooling (even though we aren't all homeschoolers!) Confused? We aren't! Read here about our events and adventures and the Kalamazoo County Fair. 4H-ers, please send in an article! Meeting
The November meeting was a sucess, with multiple homeschoolers bringing fun and interesting crafts. The crafts were: paper airplane making, painting Christmas tree balls, Cristmas tree angels, sugar cookie decorating, marshmallow construction, shadow outlines, candle holder decorating, and more.
Our "new" officers went for training at the 4-H office on the 18th.
After eating pizza, we went to different rooms. Courtney and Kevin had training for the president office. Jack had training for the treasurer position, and James went in for secretary work. The 2002 4-H Fall Achivement Awards were given out November 12 at the Birches in Oshtemo. Many of our 5-H members won awards: Cloverbud award for Outstanding Cloverbud Exhibit went to Tom and Amelia Bryant Kalmazoo County Farm Bureau Flower Gardining Award went to Hayden Taylor Rider's Hobby Shop Award for Outstanding Rocketry Exhibits went to Taylor Colvin Randles-Scheidegger Award for Outstanding Achievement in Wildflowers went to Courtney Rockenbach Indianapolis Adult Award Trip went to Lorene Taylor Congradulations to all of our members who won awards and to Alex Haltom for winning the Chicago trip! If anyone who was at the 4-H Fall Achivement would like to send us an article about it, please do. From Courtney Rockenbach:The way to get an award is: you put a project in the fair, if the judge really likes your project (hint: if a judge is trying to decide between two really good projects, they look at how much of the work you did, how well you understand it, and how well you can explain it) they will put you up for an award at Fall Achievement. One really good way to tell if you might be nominated for an award at Fall Achievement is if you get a purple special exhibit ribbon. It doesn't always mean you will, but there is a good chance. If you want to do an Award trip, you turn in your green book for the trip and make sure you do the "my 4-H story" at the back. Click here to read the previous 5H4H page (the September meeting.)
