Most bjd's come from Asian manufacturers (South Korea, Japan and China), and are only made on order but an increasing number of American companies have joined the trend as bjd's are getting more and more popular.
Two pics from the first photo shoot with Lyra. She has Masterpiece afghan blue eyes which I bought for her some months before she arrived, like the Monique wig she has in the left pic. The clothing she has in this pic is Ellowyne size but fits Lyra nicely. You may recognise the skirt from Ellowyne's Room, sweater will be added there too as soon as I have time to make tartan capris to go with it.
This outfit was finished during the cold and dark November. I love Taika (translates as Magic) pottery from Finnish Iittala and was delighted to see they had made tiny versions of the mugs of the series. These were meant to be Christmas tree ornaments but I just removed the ribbons and the mugs were just perfect for Lyra.
This is the pic I used for my Christmas greeting in 2007. Lyra has her original dark green eyes and her wig is from Monique. Clothing (except for the socks) is made by me. The bigger the eyes, the sweeter she looks. Most of the time, I prefer smaller eyes for less sweetness.
I just got some new clothing for Lyra, this is her first Goodreau outfit and first fur wig. With pale blue eyes and that wild hair, she has a totally new look once again.
I just cannot help trying different effects when editing my pics. Here's a blue negative pic of Lyra.
With a little sweeter look Lyra's character is less edgy and more co-operative and she agreed to sit next to the mighty Johann Sebastian Pooh on my brother's organ bench for a photo.
This is Sara almost excatly the way she arrived to me. No face up, original Souldoll eyes and wig (which is braided though). The top (and matching undies which don't show here) was made by me.
After months of indecisiveness, I finally got around to order eyelashes and buy gloss varnish. Before applying them I decided to redo Sara's faceup. I like her better now.
Last couple of years I've tried to make something formal for one of my dolls for the Independence Day of Finland, 6th December. I've never managed to finish those projects in time before this year. In november I saw the most wonderful gown at a doll clothing web store and couple of days later found some beautiful blue silk for 50% original price at a department store. I love the beautiful gown, little jewelry - and the wearer! In the first pic Lyra is wearing her dress from 2007 which actually isn't finished yet... but looks great anyway. More pics (and hopefully more dolls!!!) coming as soon as possible.
