BEEAS Foundation is a non-profit, non-religious,non-partisian welfare organization. The name is derived from the old river BEEAS which flowed in the south Punjab region of Pakistan and India for centuries. The waters of Beeas were given to india on the eve of Indus Water Treaty of water crisis between India and Pakistan. This left the region barren and remote.
The motive of BEEAS is to make people improve their lives through education, agricultural reforms, entrepreneurship, wise exploitation of resources and the creation of participatory precesses for decision making, at the local level. BEEAS is founded on the proposition that sustained effort by knowledgeable and dedicated people can overcome educational, economic, agricultural and social challenges. |
