Happy New Year to all of you fellow site visitors :)

Friday, 30th December 2005

Got home after walking my darling home to her doorstep.

Today was a very busy day for me and my fellow signalers in camp. It was line laying day, well we only needed to lay 7 pairs of lines that its total distance between the output and station is around 350m. It was much tiring as there were lesser people to do  the laying.

The laying started at 7am by 3 of my AM shift friends removing the old lines and when I arrived at 8am to help them remove the remaining 3/4 of the lines. We then prepared to lay the lines to and fro 7 lines which we took up to 12pm to finish, and eventually we covered important areas with PVC trunking. Then went to Mess to eat lunch. There were FHM girls present, part of the FIAT roadshow in camp, where drivers can test drive their available range in camp. After that went back to office to slack a bit from 1300h, and received a call to set up a station in the Mess site where we just laid the new lines. Some of the old lines at the comms site needed to be modified to enable the new lines to tap into. We started work again at 1500h and I went to the comms site to survey the lines. I had to modify 3 lines and place a connector like those found in the fluorescent lights to enable multiple wire connections. I finished everything at 1630h where I booked out, met my darling, ate dinner and went to Informatics for orientation night.

Then went to church to see my darling a while then Jacob n Terence went to munch munch at JW Avenue 1 kopitiam.

Then I was high in tiredness, its been a very very long while since you see the 'happy and active' side of me which is very very the rare indeed.

Good night people~

Hello people, here is my rant for the day~

Is there such thing as true personal freedom?

Why do you keep restricting me?

Why do you keep doubting my ability to take responsibility of myself and affected surroundings?

Why do you need to monitor my actions? Am I not old enough to justify it on my own?

Life is full of why's... who can answer them truthfully for me...???

I'm getting sick and tired of all your arrow of doubts pointed towards me~...

Christmas is coming and I hope you enjoy it as much as you can~...

""She stood there waiting for me, I stretched out my hand for her to hold it. We looked into each other's eyes and kissed and then headed off to the sunset and lived happily ever after"

Sounds like a fairy tale?? Fairy tales can come true, all you need is to believe, have faith and walk the one n only path of LOVE

Love is really some wonderful piece of creation. Love doesn't just come naturally, it is built upon by the affected people and with strength and courage, it blossoms into an everlasting bond that nothing will ever break it apart.

Love overpowers a lot of negative energies, anger, hatred, sadness. A special memory being recalled, or remembered or looked at will make all your worries vanish, all sadness turned to joy.

Love doesn't work alone. We have to learn to give and to take in a relationship and not be selfish. The balance beam of love must always stay in the centre, a healthy relationship will have minor fights, but do not let it make you lose confidence in your relationship, this is a test from God, to show how well you can handle problems now determines how you can handle problems in the future.

God has opened the door in front of us, where that's where I found you waiting for a miracle.

We have ever since walked the path and went through lots of difficulty together but all that achievement has made our relationship stronger.

We have spend numerous wonderful times together, and will spend even more in our constant strengthening of our loving relationship.

My wonderful darling, they say what a man gives to a woman, she will give back 10 times more

I have given you my love and appreciation, care and concern, in fact all of myself to you

And you, my wonderful dear has given the same feelings back to me 10 times more

I promise to promise a wonderful life for you, for me, for us.

I love you~

5 more days to our day :)

Hello people, I have collected my contact lenses from Optical 88, currently using disposable kinds. When I ORD, then I would be changing to permanent versions.  I opted currently for the 1-Day disposable contact lenses by Acuvue 4 boxes + 2 free, which will last me for 6 months at 2 wears per week.

I have 2 pairs of trial lenses to be used soon this weekend~

Morning 0015h update:
I found the Chicken Little Trailer song Dragostea Din Tei by O-Zone. It is a Romanian song and here are the lyrics:

CHORUS 1

Ma-ia-hii
Ma-ia-huu
Ma-ia-hoo
Ma-ia-haha

(Repeat 4x)

VERSE 2

Alo, Salut, sunt eu, un haiduc,
Si te rog, iubirea mea, primeste fericirea.
Alo, alo, sunt eu Picasso,
Ti-am dat beep, si sunt voinic,
Dar sa stii nu-ti cer nimic.

CHORUS 3

Vrei sa pleci dar nu ma, nu ma iei,
Nu ma, nu ma iei, nu ma, nu ma, nu ma iei.
Chipul tau si dragostea din tei,
Mi-amintesc de ochii tai.

(Repeat 2x)

VERSE 4

Te sun, sa-ti spun, ce simt acum,
Alo, iubirea mea, sunt eu, fericirea.
Alo, alo, sunt iarasi eu, Picasso,
Ti-am dat beep, si sunt voinic,
Dar sa stii nu-ti cer nimic.

Repeat Chorus 3

Repeat Chorus 1

Repeat Chorus 3

Enjoy the song~! Good night~!!

Motion Sickness Level 2/3 now~ That's my latest update for the night! It will only be relieved with lots and lots of sleep, taxi-less week and SBS buses with the following criteria:

1) hard seats with very little or no softness

2) must be Volvo single deck (less Euro-1 bus) and Volvo double deck. Leyland double deck and Mercedes single deck depends on aircon strength n odour,

3) driving style must be casual

Taxis:

1) Same as above no.1

2) Take taxi up to 1hr after waking up (<--- short term immunity against motion sickness in taxi)

3) sitting at the co-driver/vehicle commander's seat

I am immune to trains and SMRT buses

Thanks for listening to my rant~ I hope to recover soon. Going down from level 3 to 2 is quick but very easy to jump up to level 3 by just not following the criteria's above by me.

Today spent a short yet enjoyable afternoon with my loved one. Accompanied her to Creative Fest for she bought herself an mp3 player, using the Club Creative card to give a huge discount. :) She had to go for her biz thing in the evening :(

Then with my dad and sis, took a taxi to Changi Airport to pick up my mom who was returning from the 1 week trip from the Philippines. Ate Char Kuay Teow for dinner and then took a taxi ride back to our house. The first ride from Jurong West was not that bad, managed to zzz in the cab to minimize my motion sickness headache to level 1. The 2nd ride back made it worst, now as I am typing it is now at the maximum level of 3 (with feeling of vomitting) still, the paracetamol pill I took hasn't got into effect yet, but soon it will...

Once my headache level drops to 2 (heavy head only), then I am able to go to zzz

Saturday, 10th December 2005

Yesterday was the start of Creative Fest which ends tomorrow

Yesterday was also the multi-COC parade for my camp (3 New COs came in)

I went to Optical 88 to apply for contact lens (disposable) and was recommended 1-day based disposables, due to the nature of my current work now. He also said I can change to monthly once my schedule is not as packed as it is now which is when the time of me ORD'ing in June. For now, I can say that during weekdays I wear spectacles, leaving only special weekdays and weekends, so averaging of 2-3 times a week only. There was an offer too of buy 4 boxes get 2 boxes (colour based lens) free (I chose brown colour as in hazel nut brown type), and thinking about it for a short whicle I finally decided to get that offer. Each 1-day Acuvue box cost 45$ so a total of 180$ was spent. The nature of my eye requires custom made disposables for me which would take up to 1 week then I can collect it. I do hope to collect it by Tuesday or earlier :) Afterwhich when my disposable contacts finish (which if use 2-3 pairs a week) would end just nice exactly at the point of time near or on my ORD week, then could consider getting monthly ones or even permanent based.

Met my dear at night, accompanying her to do her homework, then 'drove' her home after she done her homework till late at night about 0145h via NR5 and walked her to her doorstep. Okay today is Saturday nothing much maybe going to Creative Fest go see what are the good offers being shown there and take a brochure for myself. :)

Back to normal pace now in my camp where everyone is back again from overseas detachment, more intensive working hours is back... It's not long before working hours start at 0530h and end at 2300h. This week all start at 0530h and end normal time of 1900h. Today I was tired that when I slept at about 1400h, I didn't even hear comms and take-off at 1430h, and when I woke up at 1530h, my eyes like were having difficulty opening fully and felt like I had a disturbed sleep (which I didn't have at all). Maybe it was because of the wrong position I was sleeping just now on the standard office chair.

How was my day spent yesterday?? Well, after meeting (which I somehow slept for 30mins and heard every announcement said by Mr. Jeremy Lee, our president... that is some multitasking skill I have never ever used to the full before, then after meeting there was some mini-training for new novena servers, where I wasn't any part at all this time (other than cutting 24 long candles to fit into the processional lamp, trimming 2 altar candles but all these were after 1030h mass). So I walked my one n only home from church :) and went to Jurong Point to meet up with the gang (now inclusive of Andrew Mari)

Saturday, 3rd December 2005

I would like to thank God for the most wonderful afternoon/night I had today, showering it with your blessings, guidance and support for us. I seriously enjoyed every minute spent today/night and will cherish the one you entrusted to me forever~.

Now going to prepare to open doors for arrival of Terence and Jeremy and maybe Jacob for 0115h soccer match on Cable TV.

Ciaoz~. Enjoy the music video I have posted on my webbie~.

Friday, 2nd December 2005

I just got the Creative E-Newsletter, stating that Creative Fest will be held on 9th December 2005 and till 11th December 2005. :) For more information visit Creative Fest website.

Today is RSD, a day where there is no flying~! I wore my No.3 uniform today, this is the only chance or excuse to wear No.3 to camp as during other working days it is No.4 due to supporting platoon for the flying squadrons. Today was a relatively cool day, with super winds rustling the branches of the trees in camp. Going to eat dinner soon, play a bit of Fifa06 or watch the recorded TV shows on DVD on my computer soon~. Till then maybe I'll take a nap for a while, later going to sleep early coz waking up at 0445h to book-in into camp by 0545h.

I bought Nickelback's latest album, All the Right Reasons~. Cool CD with nice rock music.

Till then~!

Ciaoz~~!

Monday, 28th November 2005

Hallo, how was your weekend everybody. Mine was good, we played soccer after training yesterday, and it was a funny game, just some exhibition match between us as there were juniors playing as well. Oh my right eye hurts, well not literally the eye but the eyelid is swollen, like it got bit by something someday dunno when exactly or it just came out by itself, I can feel the small swell, which makes my eye look smaller than the other, I guess withing 3 to 4 days it will recover by itself. Okay then, time to prepare for camp (PM Shift) and MAN U WON!~! beating West Ham 2-1 away~!...

Later then at night fellow people~

Friday, 25th November 2005

Hi, just updating the page for the day as tonight will not be able to update it properly. Later going to church to do church cleaning (we are scheduled to clean it at the last week of November). So straight from camp I will travel by bus to my church in Boon Lay.

Update, my throat is feeling OK already~!! Yey~~!

And also today is a very special day!

Thursday, 24th November 2005

Today going to do night shift so my day ends at 2230h. :) That's why I am writing this entry coz later will not be able to write one at night without keeping my eyes open.. :).. Who knows maybe an update will be written in the wee hours of Friday morning. Till, then have a nice Thursday, cloudy Thursday and I'm off to eat my lunch now..

Take care people~!!

Hi, back from Informatics Institute and successfully booked my place to study next year in International Advanced Diploma in Computer Engineering course. Yehey~~! To tell you, honestly I can't wait to actually go back and study and complete my education first before going out to the work zone to support myself, family and of course, my loved one. Okays~~ Time to go for a nap. Laterzz~~ oh if you want to find out more about my enrolment day, what it is, etc... , you can ask me personally. :D:D:D

Tuesday, 22nd November 2005

I dun feel so good, well I do not have flu or some sort thank you very much (although 2 of my camp mates are sneezing non stop now, maybe due to weather or dust, most likely the former, for my camp mate bought some medicine at Watson's Pharmacy to fight his cold). What I have now is lingering motion sickness from yesterday night as well as throat pain (its not sore throat, its just pain at one side of my throat, when I swallow its evident). I do not think Strepsils will help in anyway resolving this throat pain of mine.
alot of weird happenings in camp for the past week, which has made everyone of us in the platoon unhappy in a sort of way.

Also will be going to Informatics Computer Institute to register for next year's May Intake for Advanced Diploma of Computer Engineering. Sorry didn't elaborate on how, but this is what happened:

MIW advertised some career upgrade email to my account and I was just trying my luck to apply for the course (which I tried on 18th November). As you know I am ORDing next year and wanting to start studying again but as from my research goes, all poly semesters start in early April, which is not possible for me to even attend class. You want me to disrupt?? Haha, if I do so, the I will disrupt leaving 2 months of NS liability left huh?? Might as well finish it once and for all right?? It is kind funny you disrupt left 2 months then study, come back 3 years later to spend 1 month in camp then clear leave immediately.. Haha..

Anyway there's Informatics Institute, a private learning campus, specialising in a lot of areas, previously it was only offering computer based programmes but now it is into alot, I mean alot.

So I filled up a form online to find out more about the course I was interested (Read: Diploma in Computer Engineering) and the next day at night a representative of Informatics Institute (named Kent Chew) called my cellular phone and talked to me about my interest in the course. He gave me his workplace email, asking me to email my 'O' levels certificate, and whatever other study records I have previously (I told him I studied half-way of the 4 year Bachelor of Science Degree in Manufacturing Engineering and Management course in De La Salle University Manila Philippines, then he said to fax the transcript of records for my 2 years of studying in the University. And so I did, emailing scanned copies of my 'O' level certificate and transcripts.

Then at night tonight he called and gave me a bit of news, that I can skip the 1st year Diploma course and straight away go to 2nd year Advanced Diploma in Computer Engineering course. I was abit shocked and 'lagging' when he said that and had to ask him again to reconfirm. mind you I was in the bus when he called and it was kinda hard to converse in a noisy environment that he opted to call 30mins later (which he called 2hrs later la, better late than never) telling me about when the intake will be, and what I need to bring.

Tomorrow going to Informatics Institute after camp, to register for May 2006 intake, pay for 2 modules and 1 time registration fee, and be there by 1400h.

Thats all for tonight~ Good night and tomorrow then~!!!

Monday, 21st November 2005

I just bought a new non-camera phone (Nokia 1600) for camp usage and also a back-up for my primary phone (Nokia 3230). For more details of the phone I bought you can click this link:

The Nokia 1600

See you tomorrow~ people, in church~!!!

A song about LOVE (heard on TV on an advertisement) Here it goes:

L is for the way you look at me

O is for the only one I see

V is very, very extraordinary

E is even more than anyone that you can adore can

Love is all that I can give to you

Love is more than just a game for two

Two in love can make it

Take my heart and please don't break it

Love was made for me and you

Enjoy your weekend ahead~!!!

Wednesday, 16th November 2005

Hallo sorry there was no update :) kinda bz.. :). This week is a night infested duty week, middle weekdays ending at 2300h. Today I am on that shift and will end at that time and start tomorrow at 0700h. It will be a very short night for me you can see as I do not stay in unless the next day starts at 0530h then I will stay in cause there is no point spending money to go to camp in the morning where you won't even get enough rest.

I just played some Fifa 06 (2 games only) and won them both, with conceding defensive error goals. I am also thinking of buying Call of Duty 2, the game I was waiting for ever since I last played the old one released last year, Call of Duty.

Thursday, 10th November 2005

Today was on morning shift, booked in camp at 0550h and went home at 1230h tired, tired, tired. Reached home and knocked out until 1615h, woken by camp call. Then ate KFC for dinner and played FIFA 06, with a concluding match against Wolverhampton which was a very difficult match, as the team ran damn fast, kinda difficult to close them down 1-on-1, had to group tackle a player and had to be precise otherwise there would be no cover for the overlapping runner at the other side. I managed to beat the team 4-1.

Tomorrow I have some NDI standby I do not know what it is, and it ends at 2200h. So there is a chance to buy snacks/tidbits to keep us entertained during the night~! Later most probably be sleeping at 0300h so as to maximize awake time for tomorrow. :)

Tuesday, 8th November 2005

Yesterday my camp mate stayed-over at my house as we were same AM shift today. During his stay, he had test games of FIFA 06 as he had never played the game before. My day in camp yesterday was a very very busy one. We had to retrieve back our stuff that were prepared for an exercise some weeks ago, and boy it was not just light stuff, it was heavy heavy stuff, we had to use 2 trolleys and 2 trips to completely retrieve back everything, and on top of that, there was a rover change too during the point of time we had to trolley back our stuff. We had only 3 guys (including me) during the PM shift and it was multi-tasking day. The intended replacement rover even had a problem, it refused to power up the PDB (power distribution box) in the rover which distributes power to vehicle radio sets. They had to use the spare rover to do the change as the affected to-be changed rover is due for servicing. And after that I was perspiring pails of water and face was like totally 'drenched' in sweat.

Today my day was relatively quiet, normal flying resumed. And ended at 1230h, afterwhich went out to 'relax'. Time in the morning however is very slow indeed... I wonder why...

Hallo tonight I will be in camp for some PAP annual awards stand-by. :) So that means I will be going to church tomorrow, serving 0900h and 1030h mass as the latter mass is something special.. :) Tonight at 1830h is the Confirmation Mass for 2005 Sec 3 to be confirmed people, too bad I am going to miss it due to camp commitments... Okie then, cya later at around 0000h later when I reach home from camp.. Ciaoz~~!!

I'm happy you like the gift I gave you yesterday :)... --> from my heart...

Friday, 4th November 2005

I'm back from guard duty~! Just finished eating McDonalds Big Breakfast take-away :) Now going to get a nap.. :) oh and a nap = less than 1hr of sleep, anything more is called sleep already.. :P Later maybe going out with Jacob, Jeremy and Terence to go buy some gift for our fellow server confirmants, which is about 1400h later.. :) till then, I shall nap now~!

Thursday, 3rd Novelber 2005

Hey I'm off to do my guard duty on this Hari Raya Puasa Public Holiday. I shall see you tomorrow then my online people~! Cya!!!

Vid card update: All is running well, conclusion: Dust is a menace~!

Soccer: Man Utd lost 0-1 to Lille just now in the Champions League.. SUCKS LAr.....!!!

Tuesday, 1st November 2005

I cleaned up my video card fan and everything now is running smoothly. I successfully had a round of FIFA 06 without errors and lock-ups, and will be doing more 3D trials soon to confirm its stability.

Monday, 31st October 2005

Today morning I noticed my computer not playing songs when I set it to play mp3s using my winamp program at about 0030h, to find out that the computer has restarted by itself and is at the log-on screen. Graphics problem??? It must be as even when loading graphic intensive site the card like cannot handle and forces the driver to reset itself... If it unables to reset itself, the dreaded BSOD comes out and the computer restarts and if lucky the monitor will boot up if not then u get the 1 long 2 short beep.

I have planned to buy a new video card in a few weeks to come, possible maximum by the end of the month.

Friday, 28th October 2005

Oh my computer is acting up now, it crashes when I play 3D games, it was already acting up this way for the week that passed, only now it is more intensive and frequent when I am gaming. I am attributing it to graphics card failure as I have even tried using the latest video card drivers to no avail. If the computer still crashes even though I am doing basically nothing on it other than listen to internet radio or MSN, then it is time to buy a new video card. I need a budget of $300 to buy a good graphic card to last for the next 2-3 years, supporting newer games to be released.

Thursday, 27th October 2005

I would like to thank all the people who greeted me for my birthday, a very big thank you for doing so. I really appreciate it. Actually this is the only year that many people greeted me that much, in camp, by phone and internet. :) Thank you.

Yesterday was my IPPT, I got a Pass for it. These are my results:

Sit-Up: 40

Chin-Up: 6

Standing Board Jump: 253cm

Shuttle Run: 9.17s

2.4km run: 10:33mins

Chin-Up I havent actually test my underhand grip. I did 6 with overhand grip and could have done 2 more if I changed to underhand grip but was happy with a 6. And doing 2 more will get me a Silver and additional pocket money. :) All I need to do is to train my upper body strength even more so that I can do 8 and above using overhand grip.

For shuttle-run, it was my new personal best since last time getting 9.95s a few long years back. And my SBJ was outstanding, I never got 253cm before in my life, my previous one was just 230cm which was last year. :)

Tuesday, 25th October 2005

Tomorrow is IPPT day for me and also my birthday. Yehey~!

Also I would like to thank the kind stars and God for a wonderful today which I will cherish and take note of it. :)

Have a pleasant week ahead, and wish me luck in my IPPT, heck I do not even know how I would fare in it...

Friday 21st October 2005

Hello, I'm back from camp, and weekend is here again. Oh next week is my birthday but not getting my birthday off as:

1) there is insufficient manpower for the week due classified info

2) I have to take IPPT on my birthday itself

kinda sucks rite?? Still, IPPT (As my birthday present) is coming and I have until Monday to train myself physically. :) Tuesday is rest day as normal procedure for taking up Physical Proficiency Test. :) Till Saturday again ~!

Thursday, 20th October 2005

Hello, I am back after 4 days since last updating this site. For that past few days I 've been busy wiht personal stuff.. It's so personal that you know it cannot be shared. And also this coming weeks are very the busy indeed with camp related stuff happening which is classified.

Anyway, I had guard duty yesterday, and this week was rather a wet afternoon based week with exception of today, where the rain yesterday afternoon continued today in the morning. As of now, the sky is still overcast with grey clouds that could burst out any moment. Back to guard duty, the container was very cold indeed. Before my guard duty, Shiva and I were filling up empty brand new accumulators with concentrated sulphuric acid, it was indeed corrosive as I accidentally touched some spilled ones with my uniform and got an immediate hot feeling, which I washed down with water immediately. It was not that serious, dun worry!!~!. It was fun to see (albeit dangerous) fizzing or chemical reaction when the acid is poured into the accumulator, Sulphuric Acid + Lead -> Lead Sulphate + Hydrogen Gas.

After filling the 8 batteries with the acid, we sprayed water on the accumulators for excess acid spilled on it from filling or fizzing.

More updates later!~ Now goin to have a short nap... Good 'Night'

Night Update: Yo, after 4 days since recording F1 on Sunday, I finally got to watch it fully. With my busy involvments in personal and camp stuff, I had not got the time to watch it until tonight just. Then after watching F1, I played Fifa 2006 and scored another 8-0 romp against Swansea City FC. It is the maximum I can manage a score for now, I hope to break it possibly to 10-0, which depends on my style of play which varies every game.

Sunday, 16th October 2005

Today woke up at 0715h after sleeping at 0300h. Then went to church and along the way sent a wake up sms to somebody. Then served 0900h and 1030h masses utilizing the same position, ATP (assistant-to-priest), colloquially called 'the bookman'. Then went to Jurong Point to eat Bistro @ Delifrance, then rushed back by 1319h to church as there was training for servers. While they were busy training the new servers and such, I was busy cutting the altar candles and trimming long candles into usable processional versions. I also found a box of candles behind the drawer.. Hmm, how did it fall in there??? Well, ironically it started to rain after the 1030h mass, hey I'm not saying it's their fault.. Haha.. It rained the whole afternoon unti 1800h, but still the rain did not stop, there were occasional drizzles. So we waited in church for the rain to weaken before leaving at around 1715h. Oh, also the 1030h choir were practicing Christmas carols now, they were training in 'Silent Night! Holy Night!'.

Then when the rain weakened a bit, we went to Jeremy's house for some buffet, a celebration for winning a lottery. Then later on went to Billy Bombers ate cheese fries and onion rings (which were very bitter sia) haha, and ordered fancy drink (as usual) hahaha.

Then after all these happened, I went out chill someplace until 2335h and the end!~! GOOD NIGHT AND LATER THENZ!!~!

Saturday, 15th October 2005

Dang the web was laggy in the afternoon so there were no successful attempts in updating my site.. Today served mass la (duh) and found my acolyte 'globe' damaged AGAIN!!!!. I dunno how you all use the lamp during mass, the rings are there to stabilize the candles and the blue tack to firmly hold the base of the candle and yet manage to:

1 ==> spill wax like waterfall like that

2 ==> destroy the (transparency) globe everytime I come and check. The fastest interval of damaging one was 7 days, which was just changed on Sunday and NEVER USED at all during the weekend english masses on feast day weekend.

Plaease take care of the globe, it's the least I ask for. Thank you!!! :D

Okie then, tomorrow or rather later (now it is 0018h) will be going for Sunday Mass.. and cut more transparencies and there would be training as usual in the afternoon, and also ya, I need to cut candles for the processional lamps, as well as do maintenance on the processional candle holder. That's alot of maintenance stuff need to be done, for the first time.. Haha..

Thats all for tonight!~ Good Night and later againz!!

Friday, 14th October 2005

YEHEY Finally weekend is here!!! Today was relatively a humid morning (after rain) which the work day ended quite well. As usual it is another event filled day with me tearing down comms in a station as the vehicle is due for servicing. Aiyo nothing to update leh... only spend most of my afternoon outside chilling...

Now it is night time going to play FIFA as usual, trying to sharpen my 'dribbling' skills via keyboard, precise passing and coordinated and timed tackles... So far I have devised my own tactic in defending... hehehe... and to my surprise it is working quite effective and well.

FIFA UPDATES AT 2320h, WOW my special tactic in defending has worked wonders in my previous 3 matches. The 1st match with my super defending tactic used the computer wasn't able to penetrate as when he tried twisting and turning, my unique defending still managed to tackle the ball off him, and the match ended 8-0, the 2nd match ended 4-0, I tried a spectacular chip in the 90th minute and in the end fumbled and missed the ball by chipping a pass.. and the last match ended 2-0, this time it was the goal-keeper that made most of the saves in the first 45mins, the start of the 2nd half I scored the opener immediately... WOOHOOOOOOO!!!

WELL GOOD NIGHT AND LATER AGAIN TOMORROW!!! :D:D:D

Thursday, 13th October 2005

Oh today wore my No3 to camp as it is RSD. It was a very cool day, with rain rain rain... So there was no formation run in the afternoon due to weather, WASTED!!!

Its past midnight now (read: Friday) and I am supposed to be sleepy now... Later morning shift have to leave by 0600h. But I am currently not sleepy, due to some unusual event that really totally woke up my mind defenses... Now writing this entry to try to make my eyes tired... I think I can go on writing some unrelated stuff here... Haha... Okay Time to force myself to sleep... GOOD NIGHT!!!~! THE WEEKEND IS COMING!!!

Wednesday, 12th October 2005

Small update in my bio page. Today was also relatively a busy day with set-up of small moving station comms to static station to be used for the day. :) Tomorrow will be wearing No.3 uniform coz it is once again, RSD!!!

Tuesday, 11th October 2005

Good evening!~! Today in camp is the opposite of yesterday's one.. It was full of work work work. Comms tear down and transfer during the hot afternoon sun. I was perspiring to the max, sweat trickling to my spectacles n into my eyes, then pain pain.. Haha..

Anyways I just got back, and checked my email and there were pictures taken after the Anniversary Dinner, this was a platoon mate birthday celebration. The pictures taken were disgusting to the max sia.. He was drunk until cannot make it anymore. His shirt was already puked upon by him for drinking dunno how many shots of liquor. Yucks Yucks Yucks..!!! I look at the pictures until I myself cannot tahan it sia...

Anyway, allo Bernice, your laptop ah, upon hearing my service to restore it, suddenly repair itself back to life ah... Hmm.. it must be you never treat your laptop with care lor... :P Haha.. Unique la this situation, but it also applies in my camp, when we are called to stations about some comms problem, the minute we step into the affected station, everyting is PERFECT!!!. The signaller aura is so strong.. Hahaha

That's all for today. I go play my Fifa 2005 now & I am getting better!! More WINS and comeback WINS also!!... Later!!~~!!

Monday, 10th October 2005

Good evening!~! Today in camp it was relatively a slack day with no problems whatsoever. Thats all la.. I'm actually looking for capteh to play now, since kicking it around during the Feast Day itself. I prefer the older version though (many layer all rubber base) compared to the modern one (dual thin rubber with metal washers base) but anything lah.. The modern one is heavier by a bit thus it flies really high and far when kicked just lightly.

And yes, I have learnt new tricks in playing FIFA 2006, my last 2 matches ended with 3-0 wins when I applied the tactics during gameplay. I am making REAL good PROGRESS!!!! Woohoo~~!!~~!!

Oh n thank you birthday girl, for the cake, the cake was....... er... Sunday then tell you la...

Cheerios~!

Sunday, 9th October 2005

Hello, first off all, with concession pass, even with value negative dollars, it is still able to function. Haha.

Feast Day has ended, and it was rather fun, with 'special' effects. Our games stall was doing quite well, with the water-gun stall actually gathering a lot of gamers. To describe the game to you verbally, a table which is positioned diagonally, table-top facing you, has 3 cups on the top, held by a double-sided masking tape, hanging on a chopstick hinge held by insulating tape. (Sorry about the insulating tape that can't even stick to anything but functioned as a very good binding tape). At the bottom of the table lay 5 more cups, arranged in pyramid design. The top cups have a bouncy ball each and the objective of the game is to use the pressure based water-gun and aim the top cups with the ball, and with enough water collected in the cup and force applied to wards the cup, manage to 'disconnect' it from the double-sided masking tape and the ball rolls down to the bottom cups. Points were awarded to where the ball ends up in which cup below.

The other shotgun rifle based game has emoticons pasted on styrofoam cups placed strategically on a double-storey table. Each emoticon has different point value, and gamer has a turn with 4 foam bullets.

After the 1030h mass, the water-gun seemed to have malfunctioned. Haha, so much for our very successful booth. Fact: All our water-gun based games are the most successful and reliability wise is very bad.

After which went home to meet up later for dinner. Upon reaching home, I switched on the TV to watch the last part of F1 Japanese Grand Prix, to see Fisichella leading the way.. Great right??? It was like that until the last lap of the race where Raikonnen overtook Fisichella and win the race at the last lap. But still I am happy as Renault had finished 2-3 opposed to McLaren-Mercedes only 1 car finishing. Then was told to meet at 1600h location Giordano JP to find Jeremy still ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ 20 minutes after Jacob's arrival. Hahaha

We ate dessert at kopitiam while waiting for Jeremy to arrive. Then walked to Seoul Garden to eat or buffet dinner.

After that Jacob went to buy paper in the everpopular Popular bookstore and then went poof bye bye, sayonara.. Haha. Jeremy suggested go Coffee Bean buy drink n sit down, but there was no available seat (actually there was an available seat)or rather, Jeremy didn't want to sit there because there were 2 ladies beside the table separated by a glass divider... Hahaha

I bought the Caramel Apple Ice Blended which tasted like super strong cinnamon Ice Blended with caramel, whilst Jeremy ordered his trademark tea latte.

We then walked home from Jurong Point, talking facts, what money things by Jeremy and loads of crap along the way.. Then we arrived at the pathway where on the right leads to Jeremy's home. Sayonara for another 6 days~! Then I pulled out my earphones, listened to some mixes and reached home in no time.

Aiyo the damn Caramel Apple Ice Blended is now making me cough all night.. Haha my sore throat has not recovered yet btw...

Happy Birthday to ya birthday girl~! Hope you liked the gift I gave you today at 1349h. :)

Saturday, 8th October 2005

Afternoon: I just returned from Sim Lim Square having purchased 2 new pairs of earphones (Sennheiser brand) bought the MX 500 white version which costs $38. The MX550 though I couldn't find it in the store. Wasted.. I bought 2 pairs is because 1 is for me and the other one for my sister.

Also today at 1200h was F1 Japanese Grand Prix, the qualifying round was in super wet weather, which many front runners were relegated to starting at the back of the grid due to their unlucky fortune that it started to rain and made the track very treacherous to drive onto.. Later there would be some construction thingy to be done for our booth in tomorrow's Feast Day.. TIll then, cya later!~!

Night/Early Morning: I just got back via NR5, a $3 ride which made my ez-link go -$1.84. I do not know if it is still able to tap onto normal bus ride as I am using bus concession. Anyway, our booth is complete, and later will have to brief stall tenders (our servers) in how to operate the games. I'm tired, and so good night, later then~!

Friday 7th October 2005

Late Night: The dinner has ended and I arrived home at 0045h. I took the 4th last train back which started from EW1 Pasir Ris at 2331h. The dinner was great, with our camp celebrating its 15th anniversary. We were given a mini 'souvenir' like embossed item which had our squadrons written in it. Videos of how it all began were shown during the dinner. We were actually surprised how small the it was when it started and it wasn't under RSAF's management at first, it was under the army. Then 1985 the air force took over operations and it became what it was now. There was plaque presentation for several awards ranging from most number of clocked airtime in flying to long service awards right even before many were born or still learning how to walk. MDC was there to play music as a form of entertainment for the night.

The dinner was served in 8 course meal, and as of now I have a sore throat of currently I do not know how the heck I got it. Haha. Maybe it is due to the desert. I don't know!~! Also the Red Wine which was served sucked!!!! It tasted dry...

Tomorrow I am going to Sim Lim to buy new earphones as my earphones has lost its audio on the right ear, due to wire problem. My sister's earphones are also spoiled for a long time and she do not know what to buy or which is good or rather lazy to buy one for herself... Hahaha. I'll be going when F1 Japan qualifying finishes at 1300h. So then later after buying would be going to church to help out assemble the games board or some stuff... Cya!~!

Thursday, 6th October 2005

Finally Fifa Soccer 06 is now in my hands, for 49.90. It now sports 4 CD's. Thats right, 4 CD's,  2 more ever since Fifa Soccer became 2 CD's from 1 in the Fifa Soccer 2000, 5 years ago. It installs into a 3GB completed installation after every CD has been prompted. Now I am going to test the game, not before completing my Fifa 2005 4th managerial year in the Premiership first before venturing 100% into the 06 game.

Game Update: Managed to make the game run using an image. Alcohol 120% successfully made a 1:1 but unable to emulate it. I used Daemon-Tools and it successfully emulated the image file upon loading the Alcohol made Fifa 06 disc. Now my father is playing the game.. What about me?? Well I lost my first game 1-2, but hey, there's always a first time to something, same outcome when I played Fifa 2005 a year ago... It takes time.. to slowly get used to the new Fifa 06 groove...

The only irritating thing now (and always for each first release of FIFA Soccer) is that your customized controls are not saved. Fifa has addressed this issue and will be issuing a patch later in this same launch week.

Update: Ya the song is 'We Remember' Thanks Jacob for the reminder.. Hahaha. We remember indeed until even I can forget... Hahaha

Wednesday, 5th October 2005

It was a wet morning, woke up early to find it is raining very heavily. In this kind of weather, it is hard to hail a cab. I managed to get a cab when I was already due 3 mins to be in camp. Anyway, many were late also due to the heavy rain. After camp, I went to cut my hair (routine, every 3 weeks) and took a short nap before waking up at 1600h to prepare for Fr. Brys Birthday mass and dinner. HAPPY 80th BIRTHDAY Fr. Brys.

There were a lot of priests that were involved in the mass, including Monsignor Eugene Vaz, representing His Grace Archbishop Nicholas Chia, who was on overseas duty now.  His homily was mainly about Fr. Brys life going back to his young days till his achievements now.

The dinner was great, though long waiting times for each course to come to the table. There were some shows being shown on stage like Chinese/Indian dance, a video of Fr. Brys life, mass celebration, pictures of him when he was young, and pictures of us servers... produced by our Terence Tay. *Yehey*. Then talking a lot of crap on table, especially Dineth and Jeremy. Fr. John Van Dich led the YamSeng ceremony, and there were volunteers who sung on stage, including Monsignor Eugene Vaz. Fr. Frans de Ridder played the flute, which he played masterpieces such as the favourite 1030h choir's communion hymn.. I forgot what it is now, but it is very obvious when you go for 1030h mass. The choir will sing it regularly/ After the whole dinner had ended, we then left the place and walked to the bus stop. I tried to withdraw money but it didn't have smaller bills of 10. BooHoo. And now chit chatting online and have just finished writing this rant.

Allo Bernice!~!~!~!

Tuesday, 4th October 2005

Today is the official feast day of St. Francis of Assisi. The event to be held this coming Sunday.

Anyway, I have no news today :P. Tomorrow is Fr. Brys birthday mass cum dinner in the evening. The mass starts at 1830h followed by dinner in some restaurant (which I forgot what and where :P). Just a smooth day (good good) at camp, and have to sleep soon... because have to be in camp by 0530h. So have an early night and my friends, you know how to contact me.. :) Gd night.

Monday, 3rd October 2005

I have downgraded my iRiver iMP-550 Multi-Codec CD-Player's firmware from 1.81C to 1.70C. Reason being the latest firmware always skip 1 second of the song at the start so u end up hearing the song at 0:01s instead of 0:00s. It is only apparent with the latest firmware, previous releases including the default firmware do not have the problem. I'll be bringing this problem possibly in the official iRiver forum at their official site and gather replies from users of the CD-Player. Also I am now looking at a possible successor (another iRiver) to my iMP-550 as I have to be realistic to the fact that the laser of the player doesn't last forever. It is stressed enough on low quality recordables and scratched media and in time when the laser is stressed enough, it will not be able to read any form of CD, pressed or recordable, and also I have already scratched 8 CD-RWs over the past 1 year 4 months of using my multi-codec CD-Player from travelling to and fro anywhere I go. So research is now...

Time for my day. It was a good day, booked out at 1230h and I zzzz at 1400h to wake up at 1815h, and now feeling refreshed and writing this rant. Before that, which consumed 15mins was the process of downgrading my CD-Player's firmware and restoring my EQ settings. Now it is working well as it was supposed to be. Screw the 1.81C firmware!!! Later people.

Sunday, 2nd October 2005

Today served 0930h and 1030h mass where the latter was a mass specially for children. It was an action event mass with especially when end of mass we do not have space to form up and process off. Then we had meeting as it was the 1st Sunday of the month, discussing about the upcoming events such as the dinner and feast day itself. Afterwhich there was the cross-bearer examination for Sean and Ivan, both of which are now certified to carry so. Then we went to Bukit Timah to play pool, with crappy skills and such, laughing at each other when one made a really dumb shot on the cue ball, such as mis-cuing the ball, lobbing the ball off the table, and many more. Then went to NUH to visit Jeremy's grandmother. After that took a cab home, which the total fee was $12.50, the meter jumped up damn fast sia, hahaha.. Going to bed soon, though now Chelsea and Liverpool are now playing again this time as a normal fixture (aka Barclays English Premier League), because have to be in camp by 0530h. Well good night and cya tomorrow for updates if there is.!~!~!

Saturday, 1st October 2005

Happy Children's Day!!~~!! Today went to Jurong Point at 1845h to scout for Fifa 2006 game but was not found in any of the stores that were selling software. Now there are 3 dates of release, 30th September (UK), 6th October (US) and 11th October (possibly Asia). So it will be a really long time if it were really 11th October. Also Man Utd defeated Fulham away 3-2, with crazy goals scored, carbon-copy of Pedersen's goal scored by C. Jensen. Tomorrow going to church, and now I am editing my MP3 list for my player, after which going to sleep.

Friday, 30th September 2005

Finally, I have reached home at 1800h. Yesterday was my guard duty, and I am tired as of now when I am typing this log. To this date, it surpassed my previous longest duty I had last month (26.5hrs), now the record is 33hrs. I was in camp yesterday 8am as I had guard duty later the day, which starts at 1700h, and ends the next day 0800h and depart at 1200h for guard rest. We had to do re-line-laying of lines, which was actually long overdue and really needs new lines to minimize the problems to near zero. We were supposed to finish at around 3pm but it began to rain with thunder and lightning till 5pm and we could finish connecting the lines in time and was delayed to Sunday. Furthermore Monday was a normal working day which starts at 0530h so we hope that the Sunday line-crew will be able to complete the line-laying. Also Fifa Soccer 06 is I do not know to be released on the 11th of October 2005, or 30th September 2005. The only way to find out is to go to the shop tomorrow and source for it again. It is because the date 30th September is a US date so we have to add a day later, then it will be released.

Wednesday, 28th September 2005

Today is recce day for me, well not exactly. I am just there to provide comms support as a signaler. The recce is for LP OIC and LP Specs to locate a specific area and get to that location in the shortest possible time. Dubbed Topographic locating deployment, they take turns to direct the driver to drive to different checkpoints correctly without of course, getting lost. If were to get lost, then there would be a very long lecture.. Haha.

Anyway, I was in the safety rover which handled of course safety and such including a medic in it. Afternoon topo was perfect, there was no problems. Though it rained very heavily before 1300h, it was far better than yesterdays topo with another batch (but wasn't me who was the signaler). Yesterday was a good day, and the route was extremely dusty and sandy. Most of the track covered if not all, is dirt track. The rover from yesterday was blanketed with dust dust and dust. Today was rain rain rain so the track was mainly muddy and slicky.

Then when it came to night topo, something happened to the rover. As we approached to turn to the entrance of the area the crew to apply their topo, our safety rover stalled upon turning and failed to start again. It had broken down. Suspected fault was no more fuel. The night topo was then subsequently sped up to be completed quickly and finished in 1hr. Previously the same rover yesterday had a flat tyre. Today broken down.. Haha what could go even more wrong man!!!. Anyway it was also a benefit to end early as could go home early!! Yey!!

The new Nokia 3250 is a nice phone, with 2MP camera and the lower end version of the N91, it is tempting of me to trade in my 3230 to get the 3250 which will be released next year 1st quarter 2006, that is when N91 has already been released a few months before. The 3250 looks exactly like my 3230 in terms of front design. For more info, watch the video, which I coded into my own page.

But provided I do not accomplish the following stuff for my Nokia 3230, I might be getting the 3250. (Not without the trade-in of course)

1. Update the firmware of my Nokia 3230 to the latest one (currently latest is dated 15th September 2005) to fix irritating bugs and improve the phone's stability and usage

2. Purchase the Nokia Camera Flash PD-2 Attachment for my Nokia 3230

Sunday, 25th September 2005

Monday Morning Update: Today or rather yesterday was a packed day, with normal events for me such as church and training for recruits, and later in the day, was the Journey to Faith Museum Visit at the ACM (Asian Civilization Museum). It was a very good and informative visit as it teaches us servers a lot of stuff, even certain stuff we thought we knew what it was was properly clarified in the museum itself, thus us being able to correctly pass on liturgical and Eucharistic knowledge to our current recruits and juniors. As museum policy applies, strictly no forms of photography were allowed. After which, when the visit was over, we took some pictures, with perspective viewing. A lot of crap picture poses were done such as a 'flying' in mid-air shot. Then we ate our dinner at Cafe Cartel, where it rained heavily for a short period of time. After that at around 2130h we then decided to call it a day. There was Formula1 for me and I took a nap when I reached home as the race starts at 0100h.

And the result is: Fernando Alonso becomes the youngest F1 World Champion after the race. Classification as follows: Montoya, Raikonnen, Alonso.

Drivers Points: F. Alonso 117, K. Raikonnen 96, J. Montoya 60

Constructors Points: McLaren-Mercedes 164, TeamRenaultF1 162, Ferrari 98.

Let the celebrations for the Drivers at the moment begin. The race for the Constructors Title is still open between the 2 front runners. There are now 2 races left, in Asia this time, the Japanese Grand Prix and the finale at Chinese Grand Prix. F1 takes a break for the week and returns on the 7th of October 2005

Tuesday, 20th September 2005

It was a very wet day today, mostly rain with thunderstorms if not just heavy rain... It is now evening or rather night nearing midnight, and the air is very cooling dipping to a low 26 degrees C. Tomorrow PM shift until 2230h, the next day unknown till tomorrow only then I will find out.

Sunday, 18th September 2005

Nothing much to report haha. Today bought some more altar candles to stock up on depleting existing candles. Also had into consideration buying tea-light lanterns and converting them to processional lamps (not swinging). But before the decision is made, a blue-print of the supporting pole and base stand is to be drawn out first and be compatible when fixing to the lantern. Also Liverpool and Man Utd drew today 0-0, with Roy Keane, surprise start into the team, was substituted in the 88th minute to succumb to another injury this time, a metatarsal bone fracture (3rd) in his left foot.

Friday, 16th September 2005

Day 2 of 2 of my off. Today went to Challenger to buy proper paper for my HP LaserJet 1020 printer. Bought the HP Multifunction Paper 500 sheets for $6.50. Test printed once and it came out unwarped!! Printed the other side of the same paper also yielded unwarped. Dramatic and better result compared to the other cheap paper, which warped after the paper has been printed. Coudn't find any transparencies (tinted ones) in Challenger too, bad luck..

Today's trip went with Praba adn Fazli. Praba and I played Time Crisis 3 at the Marina Square Arcade. I just couldn't stop not dying at the same spot which is Stage 3 Area 1, the starting part. But today made 2 critical 'daydreaming' mistakes and also was on the phone talking whilst shooting baddies thats why got the 2 'daydreaming' mistakes.. hahaha. Then went on to play Diablo II Expansion at a LAN Shop beside the arcade in Marina Square. Ate dinner at Burger King, initially was to eat at Carls Jr. but it wasn't certified Halal so had to go along with Burger King. Afterwhich then headed back home via MRT, bought a copy of the New Paper at 2200h at the newspaper stand which still had several copies and was about to close for the night.

Champions League Update: Villareal 0 - 0 Man Utd, Arsenal 2 - 1 Thun, Club Bruge 1 - 2 Juventus

Today is Day 1 of 2 of my off. This morning's Champions League matches had a lot of action. Man Utd, Arsenal and Juventus had a red card each. But to sum the difference, Arsenal and Juventus scraped a win for their fixture, whereas Man Utd couldn't direct the ball past the goal line at least 3 times. The most stupidest red card was for Wayne Rooney who clapped at the face of the referee for booking him. Grow up man!!!

It is now 1425h. Just typing out this stuff on my website. No updates yet. Maybe just going to rest the whole day. Tomorrow may go scout for proper laser printer paper for the laserjet and as well as look for tinted transparencies for the globe. So far it has been clear type transparency, though it is efficient (provided users of the long pole lamps extinguish the candle properly and correctly) the clear type versions make candle wax stains and black soot very obvious. Spray painting it may help but due to the nature of cost for a spray can (red) it does not justify the price to be spent on. Coloured transparencies on the other hand is equivalent to buying clear type, only just add a few more small dollars. The most obvious destination to go look out for these stuff is to go to the mega-computer store which is Challenger.

Wednesday, 14th September 2005

Afternoon Champions League update: Chelsea 1 - 0 Anderlect, Real Betis 1 - 2 Liverpool.. TONIGHT Man Utd and Arsenal will be playing their matches at 0230h AM!!

Also saying hi to Bernice!! :) Hope everything is a-ok for you. Later then!!

Tuesday, 13th September 2005

Today was a relative trouble-free day, with no problems whatsoever during work. Alot of exercises/deployments going to happen during the course of this coming weeks. Later there will be UEFA Champions League, so going to watch the matches later. Chelsea and Liverpool will be playing (not against for this week) and shown on separate channels later. Tomorrow will then Arsenal and Man U matches be shown live on the same 2 channels.

Tomorrow is my so called Friday-Wednesday as I have taken off days on Thursday and Friday, taking the chance to clear my excess accumulated offs, thus having a very long weekend.

Sunday, 11th September 2005

Formula 1 Update: Spa Grand Prix 2005. Results - 1st Raikonnen, 2nd Alonso, 3rd Button.

It was a excitement filled race today, with it raining before the race started, making the 44 lap 4.5mile per lap circuit wet for the entire race. Some teams gambled after using intermediate tyres by changing to slick grooved tyres and were mostly sliding their way when they took the early risk. It was only in the later part of the race (approximately 5 more laps to go) that the grooved slick tyres showed its very very quickness on the track when the road started drying up and the racing line almost clear. 5 cars crashed out overall, and following a 2 week break before heading to the Brazillian Grand Prix.

Today went to the Creative Fest with my fellow church mates, where Jeremy wanted to either buy PS2000 or G380 for his XBOX console, where the former is the main priority. To our surprise, both sets of speakers were totally out of stock, the last PS2000 was selling for S$39 dollars snapped up way before we reached the store. We then looked around the store for other compatible speakers for console outputs but couldn't find any. I also found the subwoofer accessory sold out. Hahaha. So then went to update my Creative Card Membership information for free 2 year extension to my membership.

Afterwhich we went to SGH to visit someone, then back to Boon Lay and ate dinner at Billy Bombers. Then departed our ways at the bus terminal and see them again in a week's time.

Friday, 9th September 2005

Early Afternoon: Just booked out and reached home from camp. Later at approximately 1500h, I will be heading to the Creative Fest which starts today and ends this Sunday to do recon work, checking out the best products that can be bought (in my point of view) which are value for money. Also to decide whether I would spend my Creative$ which has accumulated to 80$ already (my last CWS purchase was in March). Stay Tuned for more updates later.

Early Evening: I just got back from the Creative Fest with just 2 purchases, a AC-DC Adaptor for my TravelSound and a Bluetooth Wireless Headset for my Bluetooth capable Nokia 3230. There was nothing else to buy there apart from my wish to get the Gigaworks G500 5.1 Movie/Gaming Speaker [Dual Flared Ports for the 130W Subwoofer, 36W per satellite making it total 120W, combined power 250W] and the X-Fi Sound card. I attended the demo for the X-Fi sound card, and what can I say, it rocks, really. It is a true step and evolution since the Live! was released 6 years ago, when EAX was first introduced. Now putting a step further into enhancing audio to the max and realistically with the 3 main features, the 24bit Crystalizer, X-Fi CMSS 3D Surround and X-Fi Headphone Extender, the later is one of the best feature introduced to this new generation.

The 24bit Crystalizer restores lost clarity of audio files (mp3s) back to its original and plays it back in DVD-Audio quality.

The X-Fi CMSS 3D recreates stereo audio into multi-surround output, thus making the band be 'around' you not just infront of you.

The X-Fi Headphone Extender is one of the best features, creating multi-surround speaker capability with just your normal headphones.

This is another of my wish list hardware items, the X-Fi Sound Card, plus the Gigaworks G500.

Thursday, 8th September 2005

The line was finally fixed yesterday with today being RSAF Safety Day, a day where it is dedicated to mess forums and presentations related to safety. Also I tried playing Fifa 2006 Demo yesterday, and what can I say, IT ROCKS. It is a big step from Fifa 2005's foundation, with ultra-fluid gameplay that even is comparable to Winning Eleven 9. With smooth dribbling, super skills/step-overs available, the ball floats more heavier and realistically compared to Fifa 2005 and Winning Eleven 8. Those who played Fifa 2005 semi-pro mode will not be disappointed with Fifa 2006's A.I mode, it is just as difficult. All you need is to relearn the new ways of dribbling past the defenders. Conservative tackles are now more easily evadable, with precision dribbling just as when you want it to be executed. Fifa 2006 as written will be released at the end of this month. 22 more days to go, and I can't wait to purchase it at CyberActive Computer Shop.

Before I rant about my day today, Creative is having another fest this coming Friday, more details can be found at Creative Fest September 2005.

Today I had a very manpower shorted duty, just 2 of us doing morning. Normally, if the day is perfect, nothing will happen on a morning duty. But we had mainly line problems that were found out to be broken totally. We didn't even know how the line broke in the first place, with it's exposed end somewhere in the middle of nowhere just 'cut' with its seizing perfectly there. There is even a slack of wire there perfectly tied and arranged. We couldn't do anything to fix the line as firstly, there are only 2 of us on duty. The supposedly 8-5 crew are somewhere uncontactable at the right time. Hahaha. Well we hope that the PM crew had successfully fixed the line now as it is very important to flying to have it functional.

Sunday, 4th September 2005

Served 9am and 10:30am mass today. Today 1030h choir not there to sing, had chalet it seems.. Hmmm.. Had usual servers meeting as it was the 1st Sunday of the month. Then afterwhich went to COMEX 2005 at Suntec City. Man it was very very crowded. The overhead bridge connecting from CityLink underpass to Suntec City was almost a standstill. Had to walk a longer but consistent route which eventually led us to the place. There were 2 events happening at Suntec City, that's why the ultra-crowdedness. Bought the HP LaserJet 1020 for S$199 (with S$80 rebate only on the exhibition itself) and had it working in one trial. It's warm up speed is no more than 5 seconds, and churns out it's first page in 4 seconds after its warm up. The printer is networked via computer setup as similar to the other printer the Epson Stylus CX3100 on the other computer. Also watched F1, with Montoya winning the race, it was a Renault 2-3 with Alonso finishing 2nd. Raikonnen finished 3rd only without unlucky events such as a torn left rear tyre and spinning after attacking the curbs too hard. Good race, with the next race at the Spa circuit in Belgium in a weeks time.

Saturday, 3rd September 2005

Today was RSAF Walk-A-Jog. We, the prep group had to be at the said location by 0630h, whilst the participants by 0700h. Took the 4th train in operation at 0556h. It departed at 0602h, and reached City Hall in 30mins 52secs. Arriving at the Marina Promenade, we gave out the commsets to the ICs, Medics and the marshallers. CAF was there as the guest of honour. When the WAJ finally started at around 0830h, the 1st batch of runners ran the whole 3.8km route, the 2nd batch walked the 3.8km route. The ran ended at 1030h, with the presentation taking place thereafter. When everyone left, we the prep group cleaned up the place and by 1115h, dismissed by our OIC. Ate at Carls Jr., finally after a year and a half ++ although the prices were very very high. Hahaha. Too bad there were no Star Nuggets, as opposed to Philippines Carls Jr. Prices were cheaper in PH than here in SG. Similarities were free flow drinks, though didn't have lemonade. Took a picture with my phone of the fries packet. Then played TC3 (Time Crisis 3) with Danz and died at Stage 3 Area 1. Need more practice though, the guns at Marina Square had perfect laser aiming but unable to do rapid firing with the gun. Hahaa.

Update: I just cleaned up my CPU Heatsink Fan Unit as it was becoming louder and louder as the days go by due to dust accumulation on it. Dismantled the fan and washed and scrubbed it. Also with LGA775 cpu's, u have to remove the cpu, then put it back and then re-install the HSF unit before booting up otherwise just re-installing the HSF will make the computer reboot unlimited times.

Thursday, 1st September 2005

Today is RSAF Parade, celebrating 37 years of Air Force life, the parade was great. We showed the best drills we were rehearsing for. The parade started at 0900h and ended at around 1030h. We had to wait a long while till 1100h to return back to our camp due to only 1 bus available. Then afterwhich booked out and took a nap until now (1830h). The next event is RSAF Walk-A-Jog 2005, this coming Saturday, tomorrow is our preparation day. Another weekend day burned but with a valid reason, unlike before.

Also I have finished playing GTA: San Andreas for PC yesterday. Now I am just completing the side-missions I have left out during my course of completing the game.

Tuesday, 30th August 2005

Finally the last rehearsal for the 1st September 2005 Parade has ended TODAY!. I had a very good nap just now, a 4hr nap from 3pm. Our rehearsal today had improved dramatically compared to last week's vetting. Also COMEX 2005 starts on the same day itself as the parade, at the usual location, Suntec City from 1st till 4th September, 12pm till 9pm. Going to buy a laser printer from the show dedicated specially for printing black and white documents as frequent changing of black ink in our Epson All-In-One yields high maintenance cost of about 2.5 black cartridges per month. Having a laser printer prints approximately 5000 pages per month if used everyday.

Monday, 29th August 2005

Just got home from camp at 2300h. Today was my 2nd longest shift hours totaling 18hrs for the day which started at 0630h. The longest still is the Friday that passed. Tomorrow having rehearsal again, so it was very important to have rest today which we did not have.

Sunday, 28th August 2005

Just finished watching Barclays EPL, Newcastle vs Manchester United. Man U won it by 2 goals, scored by Rooney and Van Nistelrooy.

Saturday, 27th August 2005

Back from guard duty, had the longest working hours ever for me, 26.5hrs from knocking off today morning at 0900h. Tomorrow I am doing duty AGAIN, on a Sunday due to some stupid issues in our platoon, I am in the end doing duty AGAIN. This time I'm really going to miss Sunday Morning Church as it starts at 0700h and ends in the afternoon. The other thing stupid is 2 of us who are doing duty on Sunday already DID IT last week during NDP Rally Standby. No swapping is allowed somemore. Now This had made me very very moody, and it was since yesterday 1300h when I found out about it yesterday. And when I become moody, I am a totally different person. Ask my church friends and close friends and you will see what I mean.

In the RSAF Day Parade, we the participants have to sing a song specially for the RSAF, similar to when you POP from BMT you had to sing the Infantry Song.

This is the song we are to memorize and sing on the Parade itself which falls on 1st September 2005.

Warriors of The Sky

A.    Up in our Singapore Sky

        Where we're called to defend

        Our families, friends and people

        And visions of our land

For the peace of our Nation

        In each and every mission

        There'll be no hesitation

C.    Ready to take on the challenges ahead

Ready to scramble take control of the sky

We are the Force we guard our country

We are the Force committed to victory

Warriors of the sky, courage is our strength

We'll fly to the fore and fight right to the end

With our lives we'll guard our land

Warriors of the sky, we are the Air Force men

            United as one we'll stand

Keep our nation strong and free

REPEAT B & C

REPEAT CHORUS

Thursday, 25th August 2005

Damn, I had a long day today with the ultimate full run rehearsals, and will have an even longer day tomorrow, with another rehearsal run and guard duty at night. Today went home after rehearsal to sleep for 5hrs flat, woke up at 7:30pm. Haha. Going to sleep soon, for tomorrow's rehearsal again and to last 25.5hrs from 6:30am tomorrow onwards. Good Night and see you on Saturday!!!

Sunday, 21st August 2005

Standby has ended at 2230h. Also Man United beat Villa 1-0, and in Formula1, its a Mercedez-Renault-Mercedez-Renault finish again, with Raikonnen taking pole followed by Alonso. Just 5 more races to go, if Alonso gets 2nd all the way, even Raikonnen winning all 5 races will not be able to catch up. GO RENAULTF1 GO!!!

Friday, 19th August 2005

Been so busy lately, mainly with parade rehearsals that when I reach home, I just eat dinner, watch a little bit of TV and use the computer for a teeny bit while before jumping on the bed at 2230h, and knock out within seconds. It will be in this mode for 2 more weeks, till 1st September 2005, when the actual parade takes place. Also, I'm going to miss the F1 at Turkey (debut) this weekend due to some standby for NDP RALLY.

Sunday, 14th August 2005

Commissioning was a successfully one today. Congrats to all servers!!!! Clap* Clap* We had a lunch buffet after the mass and it was great. Afterwhich, we cleaned up the church after mass. We had Andersen's Ice Cream for a short snack then ate dinner at OX Crab Bee Hoon at Jurong West. Also this week was the starting of EPL and its more soccer!!! Go Man Utd, go go go!!!

Watched Wigan v Chelsea and it had just finished. Chelsea won in 30 seconds into 3 mins of injury time in the 2nd half. A lucky win by Chelsea!!

Saturday, 13th August 2005

It's a weekend again. Lots of events for me and my fellow servers in church. We would be having our commissioning, conducted by our grace, Archbishop Nicholas Chia tomorrow. There would be intensive rehearsals later tonight for the main event tomorrow.

Monday, 8th August 2005

Tomorrow is National Day, public holiday for everyone, but not for us Army people and me, a stand by event, which lasts whole day. Time to go sleep because have to be in camp very early in the morning. Happy 40th birthday Singapore.

Friday, 5th August 2005

It's Friday again, another week has passed. This week, purchase of DVD-Recorder for Living Room use for replacing the spoiled VCR was the main event. Today or rather just this night, a real test of it was conducted, recording the Smallville episode. Also NDP 2005 is looming near and for us SAF personnel, it's not a public holiday.

Sunday, 31st July 2005

The Wednesday that has just passed, I purchased Act Of War: Direct Action Strategy game by Atari, which was already released since a month ago. At first during when it was launched, I saw it as a CnC Generals copycat and didn't purchase it, but when I read reviews of the game by well-known gaming sites/reviews showing how well it was rated, I decided to try it for myself, albeit 1 month later. To tell you, the game is actually not bad, in fact it is far more realistic than CnC Generals. It is actually based on a novel, which is titled the same as the game (without the Direct Action). I may put up a self review of the game, just as I did for CnC Generals series, but no promises. Due to my tight schedule currently having, I am actually quite busy with only having time to go home surf the net and play some games before going to bed and back to camp again. But I'll try to do so, wait for updates thats all.

Also RenaultF1 didn't perform well in Hungaroring F1 2005 this weekend, with Fisichella finishing 9th and Alonso finishing 11th. In fact, Alonso's car was performing poorly after colliding with R. Schumi's Toyota, damaging his front wing and debris flying into his car and onto the track, which he eventually wasn't able to produce good lap times throughout the race. But with the 3 week summer break, I hope Team RenaultF1 to bounce back and resume their championship winning form for the rest of the season.

Thursday, 21st July 2005

Now I am currently playing Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas PC DVD version which was released early this month of July. Upon playing the game, I find the game interesting and fun, with very strong violence and mature language used (which was why the series is banned in Singapore). GTA for PC, coupled with the combination of keyboard and mouse is the best compared to console versions using the controller. You have more control in the game over its wide set of keys which fully utilizes the keyboard/mouse.

Tuesday, 19th July 2005

Another wet day today. Rained from 0530h continuously till noon, and was still drizzling when I booked out. Now I am currently reformatting and restoring my phone back to defaults, because Symbian OS based phones are like Microsoft Windows installed in computers, when u install and uninstall programs and such, the phone will lag.

Monday, 18th July 2005

Today was a cool wet Monday, rained for the first half of the day, rendering the office cold indeed. It's been a while ever since there was half a day of rain in Singapore. And it was a very cool environment, unlike previously when it rained, it still felt humid and hot and worst when the rain stopped.

Friday, 15th July 2005

The NKF saga has finally ended, you all who follow the news should know what had happened. Anyway, for the past week, I have been doing my own movie marathon. So far I have watched 4 movies which starred Nicholas Cage and I had just finished watching The Mask of Zorro, maybe just to refresh my memory of what had happened and awaiting its sequel, The Legend of Zorro, which releases in October 27, tentatively.

Monday, 11th July 2005

News from F1, Montoya won the British Grand Prix, with Alonso coming in second. The 1st 4 positions are McLaren-Renault finishes. Also my friend invited me to access the Who Lives Near You Site powered by Pacific Internet Singapore. This is a friendster like site, made especially for Singapore residents. It focuses on finding members of the site who lives in your block and surrounding neigbourhood. Try it.

Saturday. 9th July 2005

Pay has come yesterday night, the earliest ever in my NSF life since default pay day actually falls on 10th of every month. Also we take a minute's silence for the terrible explosions that rocked London on the 7th of July, claiming many innocent lives. Also standby has officially ended today. Time for Formula 1 qualifying which commences at 2000h Singapore time, where now the venue is at Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit, the British Grand Prix.

Wednesday. 6th July 2005

Just booked out at 0600h from camp. Was on standby at that time, and played a little bit of table tennis. Hehehe. Now going to take a short rest.

Congratulations to London for winning the 2012 Olympics bid.

Monday, 4th July 2005

Renault won the French Grand Prix!! All right!!! Tomorrow is the commencement of the IOC meeting too. Good luck to the IOC candidates!!!

Saturday, 2nd July 2005

Morning: Yes!! I have finally found the official retail distributor for the X-Arcade PC Arcade Replica Joystick. To refresh your mind, I have been searching for a arcade style joystick for my PC to play arcade emulated games gotten off the internet. I have bought series of arcade sticks for the past year, mostly with unsatisfactory arcade realism, mainly due to in-sensitive joystick movement and stiff buttons. But what can I say as they are being sold cheap, in fact I have spent, if I remember correctly until S$100 overall for buying 3 arcade style sticks, where 2 have spoiled due joystick internal sensor pads spoil, and the 3rd one still alive but has a problem moving down when u push the joystick down. You have to push harder then it will comply.

Fortunately, there is a distributor of the arcade stick right here in Singapore, in Sim Lim Square. They sell both the 1 player (S$199) and 2 player (S$299) versions. I know the price is steep (it is actually) but if I set my mind on it, I will guarantee myself buying it this year. This means up to end of this year!! Ha-ha. Buying it makes it more fair when playing arcade games, I mean you playing on an arcade stick whereas your partner playing on a normal game pad isn't fair at all. So time to save up...

Night: Today had our 1st stand-by due IOC meeting. Played table-tennis in camp. It's been a long time since I last played that sport. My platoon mate and I went to Toys-R-Us to purchase the S$5 mini table-tennis set and tried it in camp. It isn't the real one as you need to put in more power in your stroke. The main body is made of plastic (original paddle is made of wood) and the hitting surface also in hard plastic, not rubber, which in turn doesn't allow top-spin based hits. We installed anti-slip surface on one of the sides and hitting top-spins was attainable, though not 100% end-product. Monday may be bringing in real paddles to play table-tennis.

Also RenaultF1 rocks!!! My favourite car is on pole position again in the French Grand Prix!!! Goody and cheers to Renault!!!

Friday, 1st July 2005

Hello, a week has passed and there has been no updates to my site as you can see. As you know, Singapore is hosting the IOC meeting here in the city. For those ignorant ones who do not know what IOC is, it means International Olympic Committee, where countries vie to host the 2012 Olympics. Delegates or representatives of the involved final countries meet up here in Singapore and show the 'judges' why their country is best to host the 2012 Olympics, with presentations that would support their claim. Well, it bodes well for their industry as it would provide jobs and income should they were to successfully win the bid.

This all important meeting has made us, the Police and SAF (Singapore Armed Forces) to be on IOC standby. This means that while all of you are enjoying your weekend and school and sleep, we would be in camp from tomorrow till next Saturday, ensuring that the meeting itself will be a safe, successful and trouble-free one. Security will even be more tight on the actual meeting days itself. The meeting will be held on this coming Tuesday and Wednesday, where the alert is higher.

Who do you think will win the bid?

Paris, Moscow, Madrid, London or New York?

You decide.

Also called my childhood friend in the Philippines. Well, not exactly call her, her mother wanted to talk to my mother, due been very long ever since last met them. I test called her using the land line phone, with experiencing some kind of 3-5 second lag where both parties can hear each other but in a way it would transmit 'laggingly', had to buzz out a few hellos before it became synchronised and was properly working... I'm actually surprised that when I tried using my cellular phone to call, it was flawless and much clearer than using the land line. Maybe it is because due to different carriers (Starhub for my mobile, Singtel for our land line), but I do not think so that it is the cause.

Anyway, it's really been a long while since we last talked to each other, with that done, hope to have a conversation in near future.

Good Evening to you all!!!

Sunday, 26th June 2005

Bought Unleashed a.k.a Danny The Dog movie starring Jet Li & Morgan Freeman. Its a good movie, with plenty of fighting scenes that would really make you think during the movie. Also this coming Wednesday is the opening of War Of The Worlds over the world.

Friday, 24th June 2005

Early Morning: Success!!! XviD version of Sentosa video is finally released. The road to encoding to these formats was a rocky one indeed. Transcoded from original MPEG-2 version, its overall size is 610MB and having an average bit rate of 1513kbps. Quality compared to DVD-Video is 40% lousier, but it is good enough to watch. The MPEG-2 version has been deleted and replaced by the XviD version. A DivX version was sampled but there was a problem in playback. I was able to encode it to DivX using codec version 5.2.1, but playing it seemed impossible, infact, even the DivX player couldn't play it at all and would end up giving an illegal operation window. I had hoped of using DivX instead of XviD mainly because of its encoding speed (it would take 3x faster compared to XviD encoding speed) and it's quality of encoding has gone up and file size gone down.

As it stands, the available versions for the Sentosa video are:

3GB DVD-Video (1x 4.7GB DVD Media required)

610MB XviD AVI file (1x 650MB CD Media required)

Thursday, 23rd June 2005

Early Morning: Still testing out the DivX codec. Windows is giving me illegal operation windows pertaining to the DivX codec. Stay tune for more updates.

Morning: Unfortunately, I am unable to encode a DivX version of the video. This makes the stand remain as released versions of 2.9GB MPEG-2 mpeg file and 3GB high quality DVD-Video.

Night: Good news, managed to convert to DivX for the first time tonight. Still currently at experimental stage, tried bit rate 900kb/s using codec DivX3 FOURCC DIV5 and got a 30MB mpg file down to 5MB with lots of quality lost. Now am creating a from scratch version of the Sentosa video.

Wednesday, 22nd June 2005

Afternoon: Released version 2 of Sentosa DVD-Video, this version includes chapters, created using NeroVision Express 3. All videos are not edited. They are just extracted from my camcorder and joined up into 1 mega-huge mpeg/avi file.

F1 Update: FIA reveal Michelin Team Charges. Uh Oh.. what do you think the outcome would be??? It will all be revealed on June 29, when all the Michelin teams meet up in Paris over the FIA Meeting.

Night: With request from Dineth making it into DivX based, I could be releasing that kind of version by the end of this week. If it is so, then there is no need for the MPEG2 version as DivX is also able to re-create that high quality with lower bit rate and smaller overall file size. Stay tuned for updates.

Tuesday, 21st June 2005

Morning: F1 Latest. Michelin teams summoned by FIA

Sentosa Video Latest: The 2 versions are completed. Both hold a 704x576 resolution in both MPEG (MPEG2 codec) and DVD-Video format. Sporting 3GB of space for both formats, it requires 1x DVD-5 (4.7GB) DVD media (+ or -).

Other News: I bought Marion Raven's Here I Am CD. The music is great to listen, a true deviation from her old M2M ways. Great buy for me. Sold at Music Junction for S$18.90

Monday, 20th June 2005

Saturday we went to Sentosa, and I finished combining the video I filmed into a whole video using Nero's NeroVision Express 3. The whole video is now burned onto 1 4.7GB DVD, using highest quality settings which took up 3.72GB.

Also this morning was Formula 1 at Indianapolis, USA. Unfortunately, only 6 cars raced, mainly those Bridgestone runners, so it was obvious who ended up first to sixth. Minardi earned their first points in this race. All of the Michelin runners didn't play further part after warm up lap. They ran for the warm up lap and pitted in the end. The reason is safety. On Friday, 2 Toyotas had suffered tyre failure on the practice session, Zonta's one wasn't that serious as it blew at the slow turns 3 & 4. It was Ralf's one that was dangerous. Upon exiting the slow turns at intermediate 2 after turn 13 to run flat out towards the banked finishing line, his left rear tyre blew and he turned 360 degrees before hitting the wall and eventually stopped after hitting the wall. He wasn't injured in the process, but F1 prevented him from participating in the race for safety reasons. Michelin engineers then went on to investigate the 2 tyres of the Toyotas and found that they suffered a cut which cause the tyre to fail. Michelin flew in another better version of dry tyres from France and tested them but also found same results. And also the old Michelin tyres were already used for qualifying and it is against the rules to change the tyres after qualifying, if so they would be penalised 10 places behind. Michelin's demand to install a chicane after turn 13 to slow the cars down was rejected and in turn Michelin engineers told the respective Michelin runners that their tyres will not last the 73 laps over the turn 13 of the speedway. And so they did, all 7 teams pitted after the warm up lap, Jordan and Minardi was expected to pit also but Jordan did not as the team took advantage of the situation to earn 3rd  and 4th position. Minardi had no choice but to race because in the contract between Jordan and them, they had a clause that if Jordan aborts the race, Minardi can opt to do so too, but since Jordan raced, they had no choice but to race.

You could see bottles and cans being thrown onto the track much to the spectators disgust. Many of them were giving the thumbs down sign, including some teams in the pit lane.

This situation could spark the end of Formula 1 racing in USA...

Wednesday, 15th June 2005

Yesterday finished discharging both the batteries for the camcorder (1st phase) and will be preparing to recharge them later to do the last phase of the battery maintenance. The last phase is the finale, where the battery will be fully charged and ready for use on the actual day. The last phase will be conducted on Friday, as the following day, which is the actual day to use the camera in the Sentosa outing.

Tuesday, 14th June 2005

Today, my platoon mate and I were 'chosen' to teach some other army personnel about radio comms. Lots of high ranking people, can you imagine 2 corporals teaching a major!!! Hahaha. Anyways, now currently preparing my father's Sony HandyCam for use this coming Saturday for the Sentosa outing, currently discharging the batteries and on Friday, I would be charging them fully overnight on the Friday itself, so that it is 100% loaded when I leave for church in the morning

Monday, 13th June 2005

Yesterday bought a Nike Frisbee, which burnt my wallet worth 12.90. Now maybe all of you are thinking, why buy a Frisbee that has a tick logo on it and costs 4 times more than a cheaper Frisbee. The reason is this Frisbee is made for freestyle playing (as indicated on Nike's Freestyle website). It is not made of plastic (which in this case the common Frisbee cannot be played in areas where there are many hard obstacles, the common plastic Frisbee will get damaged and/or break and lose its aerodynamic capabilities) but rather made of recycled Nike rubber that came from Nike's range of shoes. This makes it more durable, flexible, more heavier (119grams) and as we have tested in Suntec City, more accurate that common plastic Frisbee. True to its freestyle tag, it goes to wherever u throw it, just like the Nike Total Aerrow Ball. The 12.90 well spent and a Frisbee that would last a very very long time.

Note: Frisbee bought for Saturday's Servers outing to Sentosa, where this is one of the games that is going to be played over there.

Saturday, 11th June 2005

A recent visit to Command & Conquer: Generals website revealed latest patch 1.04 for zero hour expansion has been released.

Friday. 10th June 2005

Got home in time to watch Smallville. Getting interesting. Also topped/extended my e-pass for my ez-link NSF concession as it expires today. I also hope Colin McRae Rally 2006 comes out soon, with more realism and new cars. Hehehe

Thursday, 9th June 2005

Hello all. Having sore throat and cold at the moment, ha-ha, now containing it well. Mr. & Mrs. Smith movie is out in cinemas. Bored, no games to play, it seems the PC is like a tertiary means of gaming nowadays, and pay day is near. Also uninstalled the Rally game as its not so realistic versus the 2005 version. Maybe going to buy Richard Burns Rally, but maybe only.
Update: Downloaded the Demo Version of Richard Burns Rally, and in my opinion, I do not like it. To me, the car feel's light, and it loses traction too easily, thus having uncontrollable drifting in the game, but which in turn this game requires active steering controls, users of keyboard will have to take a lot of practice to master it, even me.

Tuesday, 7th June 2005

Back from camp, had my guard rest a.k.a sleep from 2pm till 4pm. Just installed back Colin McRae Rally '04, since my camp friend borrowed my 2005 version to play at home.

Sunday, 5th June 2005 (late night)

Tomorrow having guard duty, so see ya all on Tuesday, 7th of June 2005. Until then, have a great week ahead.

Sunday, 5th June 2005 (early morning)

Report of my day: nothing much happened, it was just a typical normal working day with exception of additional activation flight destination area if activated (which normally won't happen). Still, even though manning is up to 2300h, crew are not allowed to book out unless stated by main ops room, which eventually standby officially ended for the day at 2345h, after which we still had to do normal procedures before we signalers could knock-off for the day, which typically consumes up to 30mins after official last close-shop time. Going to catch some sleep and wake up to go for 9am mass. Good Night everyone...

Friday, 3rd June 2005

Enjoying the supreme ultimate USB audio provided by Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX, which I bought on the Creative Warehouse Sale at the last day itself. Earned 5% Creative$ of the S$199.00 sale price summing it up to 89 Creative$. The old Extigy has been transferred to my father's computer, which was using Creative Sound Blaster Live! Value.

Update: Hmm change in schedule, now doing PM tomorrow 2pm to 11pm. What the heck, can't decide once and for all...

Wednesday, 1st June 2005

SAFSA ended today, tomorrow I am on full-day guard rest. Change in plans, I'll only be doing morning duty on Saturday 8am to 3pm, meaning I can come serve later hehehe, also serve tomorrow, because there is meeting afterwards. Also my phone slipped out of my pocket whilst traveling to Changi Village via taxi this morning, luckily I reported it to Comfort and the driver has my phone now, currently waiting for him to return around 11pm later. I just called him and he is obviously busy with taxi driving.

UPDATE: Phone has been returned at 2315h. Thank you sir!!!

31st May 2005

Tomorrow and Thursday involved in SAFSA event, being held in Changi Naval Base, to help out. Also this coming Friday, Saturday & Sunday, camp is doing an exercise standby so extended hours for Friday shift, 8-11pm for Saturday and 8-5pm for Sunday, involved in the Saturday roster. But will be serving 9am mass and/or 1030am mass hehehe, also meeting after lunch.

30th May 2005

Went for my range today, shot 13 out of 16 rounds, missed 3 on both supported stances. All shots on non-supported I yielded full marks. Also those having Generic Host Process errors, Microsoft has released an update for it. These errors are due to MS Security update MS05-012 or caused by attachment files not to be displayed in Rich-Text format files. The link is here, for genuine Windows XP users only, and is not available on WindowsUpdate.

26th May 2005

Going for my IMT (arcade shooting hehehe) tomorrow. Sianz hahaha.

25th May 2005

Good Morning everyone... Yesterday had my technical handling test, going to have range on next coming Monday the 30th. This Friday is IMT range, computer based 'try-out' range. The technical handling test makes us feel like we are in BMT, so gone are the days hahaha.

Oh it's also raining ever since yesterday and it burst into heavy rain just in the morning at 7am.

23rd May 2005

Public Holiday no. 2 (Due Vesak Day fell on a Sunday). Bored & what a warm day, soaring mid-day temperatures up  to 32 degrees C. And also counting 6 days (including today) to guard duty. Hahaha. Also bought my first Music CD this year, Corrine May's Safe in A Crazy World. She is the one who sang the ending and insert song of Channel 5's drama 'Chase' starring Utt & Linda Liao. Show is going to conclude in these coming 2 weeks.

20th May 2005

In a week's time, the Creative Warehouse Sale @ Creative HQ will start again. It will be held at the usual location from 27th May till 30th May 2005, a week before the PC Show 2005, which will be held in Singapore Expo. Details of Starbuys and Sales items can be found at the site or in this coming middle page of The Straits Times Newspaper. The new Zen Neeon is also being sold. Anyways those wanting to buy high quality speakers, or prefer the Creative brand MP3 to others can head on to this warehouse sale event or if you are waiting for more bargains leaning towards computer stuff should wait for the PC Show 2005 which would be held in Singapore Expo from 2nd June to 5th June.

16th May 2005

This week for my unit is exercise week, 24hr exercise to be precise, round the clock until this thursday @ 0400h. Super long working shift which also includes graveyard shift. Sianz.. hahaha.

14th May 2005

An unfortunate thing happened to my computer yesterday, specifically the motherboard. It broke. It broke when I was trying to rectify the RAM problem. It started when I had already manage to test run it outside the casing, and every speck of dust vacuumed away (It is dust free as of now). Then I proceeded to screw the motherboard onto the spacers, when it happened. A screw became stuck in the spacer and it could neither tighten nor loosen. Instinctively, I screwed left n right and used the tweezers to forcefully remove the spacer, which eventually came out, BUT with the spacer and screw still stuck in the hole and the base for the spacer has become threadless. So my father and I used a pair of pliers and screwdriver and did manage to remove it but at a cost. But wait, I won't go to the incident yet. I proceeded to install it into the casing and plug the minimum back to see if it would boot. It didn't, no beeps no error beeps, none. So my mindset was thinking that it was just acting up again so I removed the RAMs and dusted here and there, but it didn't boot. So I proceeded to inspect the motherboard and found my way to the place where the damaged spacer was before and to my horror, there was a BROKEN IC chip. No wonder it could'nt boot. Verifying it with my father that any IC chip broken on any electrical device would render it useless and dead. There is no way you can RMA it as it has been damaged due personal mishandling. Mourning is over, the motherboard has become RIP and is resting peacefully in its box.

Anyways had to go to Sim Lim Square to purchase a new motherboard. Decided on the Gigabyte GA-8I915P Duo Pro which is essentially a much feature packed version of my dead Gigabyte GA-8I915P-G. Featuring both DDRI/II slots, Firewire A interface, Dual Gigabit LANs and SATA/IDE Raids, it was a good buy at S$245. It even supports Pentium 4 Extreme Edition CPU's (which the DDRII RAMs are required for operation).

11th May 2005

Opened up the failed Seagate 8.4GB hard disk which was approximately 5 years old to find the read/write head dead stuck on the platter. The freaking magnet is so strong that the metal holding the read/write head in place was difficult to dislodge, requiring a lot of force even with 2 hands. Surprisingly the platters (2 of them) were mirror shiny and not sharp at all. The hard drive was taped up with some metallic foil sticky tape to prevent air from seeping in, thus it being a vacuum to protect the platters and the sensitive read/write heads. Looking forward to opening up the next dead hard disk of mine, the Fujitsu 4.3GB which is close to being 8 years old.

10th May 2005

Somehow the ram retentions on my DIMM3 managed to loosen itself and thus giving my computer yesterday unlimited reboots with garbled memory errors before Windows starts, hanging at Memory Test screen. Removed the ram and swapped slots with the other RAM yielded good results. Hope it stays this way at least for a very long while. This situation makes me think of whether to purchase newer RAMs.

9th May 2005

RAMs not cooperating again, took it out and used eraser to rub the gold contacts on both rams, re-installed them back and it booted up again. Hahaha. Hope this mini-rubbing clean up makes it run properly, at least for a very long long long while the next future times I turn on my computer.

6th May 2005

Bought a new 160GB Hard Disk to replace the 60GB which the later is transferred and to be made main drive in Duron 700 system. This means updated the Prescott page with new data over the computer specifications area which is found near the bottom of the page. What type of Hard Drive I bought and installed can be found out at that page.

5th May 2005

Ever since Google spiced up email storage to currently a whopping 2.1GB and increasing every second, Yahoo has also increased its email storage to 1.0GB to all free users. I was surprised at it just when I logged in to see it turn from 250MB to 1.0GB.

4th May 2005

Bought new arcade stick at CyberActive Jurong Point. It costs 28.90, 8 dollars cheaper than the previous arcade stick I bought in Sim Lim. It is bigger and heavier, which makes it more stable, with suction cups to increase its stability even furthur. Bought the last one at the shop, wanted to buy 2 so that it becomes a real arcade, but sadly there wasn't stock until this coming Friday.

So here is a picture of it

Taken with my Nokia 3230's 1.23MegaPixel Camera

Saturday 30th April 2005

Nokia has released details of its N Series handset namely the N70 (3G phone, metal version of the 6680 with 2MP Camera), N90 (which looks like the 6260 with a huge Sony Vario Tessar Lens 2MP CCD Camera) and the N90 (which has 4GB of space to store MP3 like an iPod/Zen/iRiver hard drive player and 2MP Camera). I especially like the N90 because of what the camera has, especially Sony's lens being used in it. But source say that the phone costs way over S$1300 average for them, the 3G phone costs about S$1600. Thats alot considering with that money you can actually buy a dedicated digital camera or video camcorder and perform much better in camera area or buy 2 devices separately and still have change. Expect it to be released sometime in the 2nd half of this year.

Ok enough of that. My day was fine, thats all. Watching Thursdays channel 5 TV drama offerings is good, especially in the 8pm to 9pm range. Enjoying videos on my Nokia 3230, installed an application that allows me to convert videos to AVI and in landscape mode and watch it like widescreen movies albeit smaller hehehe. Hope you all enjoy your labour day public holidays which falls on Sunday and Monday. Also generals.ea.com has released a patch for Zero Hour which fixes alot of exploits and bugs and implement new unit statistics for every faction in the game. I am abit slow in it, it is now going to be May and the patch was released a few months back in February. Still better late than never.

Sunday 24th April 2005

I notice many people have been infected with the W32.Kelvir.** virus where ** is the type/variant of virus that has compromised the computer. The virus is not that dangerous, if many were to ignore the message which typically starts with 'lol look at this' and next in line is the link that has your msn email as a reference and not click that link, you will be safe. And if the user were to click the link and install the file, your computer would be another means of transferring the MSN virus around to your contact list. The virus does nothing other than install itself into essential windows directory and enter itself into various registry sections of your windows installation. Following the Symantec removal instructions for the virus would definitely clean up the virus after you have updated your own anti-virus program and scan your computer. But seriously the best way is to not get infected at all and it is normal to be paranoid if you were to encounter this kind of fishy message in any forms of transaction (email, instant messenger).

Wednesday 20th April 2005

My com acting up a little bit. Yesterday spent 30mins dismantling everything due to motherboard refuse to boot up with the RAMs (though when I removed the RAMs to isolate the problem, it gave the error 1 long beep which indicates RAM not present) and brushing away every speck of dust on the motherboard and components, applied fresh thermal paste on the CPU and installed back everything (and was good hmm). Also we would like to hail for our new Pope, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger who became the 265th successor and took up the name Pope Benedict XVI.

Thursday 14th April 2005

Updated Computer Configurations for Specific Budgets Page with latest prices for computer hardware. The next major price update will be at the end of May 2005.

Monday 11 April 2005

Bought SanDisk 256MB RS-MMC for my Nokia 3230.

Sunday 10 April 2005

Page for my Nokia 3230 is completed. Head on via the photogallery link found below for my own mini short review of my new phone.

Saturday 9 April 2005

Scrap not. Got my Nokia 3230 (black). Cool!!!. Gonna create a webpage for it soon. Watch out for it.

Thursday 7 April 2005

Should be scrapping the idea of buying Nokia 3230 soon...

Tuesday 5 April 2005

Hmm I received a call from Skylet, stating I have won a prize in their lucky draw which I entered for fun (from buying the Thermaltake BigWater from them). I have won a Microsoft Wireless Mouse.. Ha Ha Ha... Going to collect it on Saturday, and must be there before 1pm... and also, I would hope for the shop to call me about my phone....

Sunday 3 April 2005

May buy new Nokia 3230 later. Still deciding on to buy the phone only version or the recontract one (if permits). Also will be buying the Nokia Flash PD-2 attachment to complement the camera of the phone (provided going to buy the phone in the first place). Gonna contact Nokia about my 3650 problem after getting my 3230.

-Phone Update: No stock, arrived at the shop to find the last Nokia 3230 Red already purchased by a person before me. Lady staff there told us that they would call when stock arrives... when that comes, I do not know and neither does she.

-Religious Update: A moment of silence for our dearly beloved holy father, Pope John Paul II who passed away in the mornings of 3rd April 2005 (2nd April 2005 Saturday Evening in Rome) The Obituary of the Pope courtesy of Channelnewsasia, can be found here.

Friday 1 April 2005

My Broadband has been upgraded to 512k (from 384k for past 18months) due PacNet SG offered recontract. Woohoo!!

Thursday March 31 2005

Computer restored to as it was before, everything is smooth sailing again.. Good Good!!! Green Day's Album is great to listen to. Today is also a rainy day, with most of my time stuck in office in my camp due weather.

Tuesday March 29 2005

Finally reformatted my PC after more than 6 months last installed. Everything feels fast again, in terms of loading and response. Finished reinstalling every software program needed for my normal computer usage. Thinking of buying a new 160GB hdd to store my anime as getting low in space. Maybe next payday... which is a week more to go...

Easter Sunday March 27 2005

Yesterday Easter Vigil went smoothly, some unexpected events occurred in the 3hr mass. Other than that, it was good. Dineth uploaded pictures of all days (Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil) masses and published them onto his webpage, head on to his page right here. There was an easter party down at Stefan/Stanley's house, which I didn't go to.

Maundy Thursday March 24 2005

Today is Maundy Thursday, where the last supper took place. After the adoration which lasted till 0000h, we then proceeded to cover up all crosses with purple cloth. We took 1hr and 30min to successfully cover the main cross in the church, where we had some outstanding hurdles to clear, in turn we made up extra stations of the cross for every incident that occurred during the cover-up. This is the only period of time we can 'enjoy' ourselves in church as so it shows, the tabernacle light is off due Maundy Thursday/good Friday. Too bad we couldn't capture it on video. It was really a comedy hahahaha!!!

March 23 2005

I'm back from my holiday, and boy it sure is a good holiday, enjoyable, fun, and the weather is very cooling, a low 19-20 deg C it can go. It's also very windy and breezy given the fact that Gold Coast is near the beach side. The flight was 7hrs with distance between Singapore and Brisbane a long 6200km. The plane was a Boeing 747-400, and economy class had their own TV and could select what to be watched and play games as well. I watched movies such as Sponge Bob Square pants the Movie and Oceans Twelve (to Australia) and Ladder 49 and The Incredibles (from Australia). I should be uploading pictures very soon but have to reduce it's quality as all are taken at maximum quality @ 3MegaPixels, pictures of themeparks visited and koalas and kangaroos. Also I would be compiling the videos onto a single DVD soon. That's all for now so later!!

March 15 2005

At 1800h, we will be heading to the airport to board the flight to Australia for our holiday. I would be enjoying every moment of it, and should be taking pictures/video for remembrance. So to all of my friends, see you in a week's time. For now, I shall sign out!!!

March 12 2005

My IOMEGA Predator II 24x10x40 showing signs of wear and tear. A few months ago it could not close a session when you aborted a burn (on RW). The error shown is 'could not perform end track'. And just yesterday it couldn't burn files properly. Even though Nero shows 'burn completed successfully', when I played the CD on my iRIVER, there were missing tracks. My previous compilation also shown missing tracks even though I didn't bother to see into it as I thought I had deleted those songs (where actually I didn't, they were there in the directory but didn't manage to be burned to the RW). Now the predator is demoted to reading CD's if my ASUS DVD-ROM can't access them properly and all burning priorities have been given to my Teac DVD-Writer.

Also bought the new Sennheiser earphones MX550 and they rock!!! Previous bundled iRIVER earphones were Sennheiser MX400RC OEM.

March 11 2005

The Creative Warehouse Sale Webpage is up again. Most deals are what you see in the IT Show 2005, while others are increase in prices of certain products. And same, the Audigy 2 NX USB sound card is not sold lower than S$199. Same offers such as the Zen Micro 4GB/5GB/6GB offerings for those really attractive prices.

March 10 2005

IT Show 2005 Creative's booth the so called fantastic deals are not fantastic at all. The only big difference is the cost of the Zen Micro 6GB on sale, which is sold at that cheap price to fight head on with the Apple iPod 6GB. The Audigy 2 NX is still being sold at S$199 (deal price), same price as the last Creative Warehouse Sale in Nov 2004. Hope the 18th to 20th CWS March 2005 sells true fantastic deals.

March 07 2005

Just checked miw.com and I have been promoted to CPL (in fact effect from 1st March, and now its already 7th March, no one informed me at all). Hahaha. Pay increased to S$30 more and extended ORD date to 190606. Boo!!!

March 06 2005 @ 2359H

Going to buy a new pair of ear phones for my iRiver IMP-550, as the existing iRiver branded Sennheiser is spoiling (wire of left ear phone loose, due to that the sound is softer and pulling/pushing the wire causes the sound to be lost/fade out). Researching and finding out which shop sells Sennheiser MX500/MX400 Series (preferably a remote control version --> short wire) to be connected to my iRiver remote control of my multi-codec CD player. As my friends would be going to Sim Lim this Saturday, I shall tag along with them and make my Sennheiser purchase.

March 06 2005

Now using CBox as my substitute doodle-board. Doodle-board.... why why why... the page is misleading as to see them write 'free' but in fine news update which many would miss actually it became a pay only doodle-board. Never mind at least even though tag-board's version is less appealing, it still does its job..

March 05 2005

Today was our Squadron's 16th Anniversary held in SAFRA Mount Faber. I played a bit of bowling during the event (free for all, you can play soccer, tennis, badminton, pool) and had lunch there and special events involving all of us and prize giving. It was a lot of fun!! Also CWS (Creative Warehouse Sale) is to be held from 18th March to 20th March, a week after the IT Show 2005. Too bad I am unable to go. If there were to be a sale on the Creative Audigy 2 NX, then I would ask somebody to buy for me during my overseas leave.

March 03 2005

IT Show 2005 will be from 10th March 2005 to 13th March 2005 at Suntec Exhibition Centre, Levels 3 & 4. Open from 12noon to 9pm for the 4 days. Details can be found here. May be going to the IT Show and look for LCD promos. Also according to www.doodle-board.com, it has become a member's only priviledge to use the doodle-board feature, as in you have to upgrade (and eventually pay it's service for US$2.00 per month) to continue using it. It's because due to high running costs as stated in the doodle-board website. Looks like I have to find another means of doodle-boarding on my homepage.

March 01 2005

Unique number today, 010305, hope everything goes well for all of you as it is for me

February 27 2005

Planning to get an LCD monitor sometime in June. It's still a long way to go, time to replace my 15" monitor which has served me for 2½ years already. Who knows what brand I would be considering, but my requirements are of the monitor to be able to play game without ghosting (maybe 16ms) and could be a 17" LCD monitor. Anyway it is still quite a while to decide what to buy, hope there would be an IT fair with great discounts for me to go look into. Also the weather is becoming bad due clouds that passed by down south are going back up north. Have an umbrella handy, and keep electronic usage to a minimum as the rain is accompanied with lightning and thunder.

End of March I will also be updating the Computer Configurations for Specific Budgets Page.

February news have been relocated to the Archive's page.

February 24 2005

Visa approved and as reflected on passport, immediate return, and I thought it would take a few working days to approve, but it wasn't to be, it was instant. Now the countdown to departure begins... less than 3 weeks to go...

February 21 2005

Will be taking a day off from work on the 24th of February to follow my parents to apply for Australian Visa for social visit next month. I also hope for Nokia Singapore to contact me as soon as possible about my Nokia 3650 with a busted power port that has made my phone to not charge at all, be it the existing battery it has or the newer S$65/- Nokia original battery (now with Nokia original holographic image to show it's genuine) as they do not have the part at that time. Hope to get the phone fixed before the trip to Australia commences.

February 18 2005

I have decided to abandon installing BigWater for now and try again in 6 months time, that's when my Intel Original LGA HSF would have collected so much dust that my idle temperature would have increased to 62 deg C as it did a week ago. So in 6 months time, BigWater, see you again... in another attempt to install the water cooling device. Hope by then you are still working fine...

February 14 2005

There seems to be a problem with my Thermaltake BigWater H20 Cooling System.  I've notice that the Thermaltake BigWater H20 cooling system is not 'accepted' by my motherboard. Basically, I had it running yesterday, everything working well, and the pump is in perfect condition. I experienced a hard reboot due to CPU v-core over it's default range (for my Prescott CPU it is 1.375V, it went up to 1.6V), after it's reboot, it went back to normal. I left it overnight, to test its stability and playing mp3 overnight while I went to sleep, only to find at 6am the computer hanged, and it was a hard hang, meaning hardware related. Thinking it was overheating (over water-cooling to overheat is 1:10 ratio) later at night after work, went to switch on the computer and it couldn't boot as in the morning. I proceed to do isolation test and refitted the water block but to no avail. Then I tried to install the original Intel HSF LGA and to my surprise it worked. So it voids the possible malfunction of motherboard/CPU parts. Then I proceeded to reinstall the water block again but it couldn't boot. I think it could be due to over tightening of the water block retention system OR the water block had too little pressure on the CPU surface OR there was a problem in my mounting of the whole water block system that caused the motherboard to 'not accept' the solution. I would be emailing Thermaltake about my problem and see what they have to say. In the meantime my S$189 is idling outside not in use and feeling my salary wasted.... And I managed to remove the Fan of the Intel Heatsink and brush away every dust accumulated for the past 1/2 year, and actually it is quite silent... (Before there was dust it was very damn noisy, even at idle, struggling to cool the CPU efficiently and thus having an idle temperature of 62deg C)

February 13 2005

It's decided!! I'm going to buy the Thermaltake BigWater H20 cooling solution at Skylet, which retails there at S$189. More updates later, and newer pictures will definitely be taken due to that transition from air cooling to water cooling, this setup is for those who are new to water-cooling and mostly makes newer users more accustomed and gain experience in water cooling before transitioning to pure D.I.Y water cooling solutions which perform better and costs more (mainly for those overclockers). This package (BigWater) as reviewed by a lot of sites gave it an average of 9 out of 10 stars for it's very good performance for its affordable price. UPDATE: Gone watercooling already... pictures will be uploaded soon!!

February 10 2005

Wishing all who celebrate CNY a very Happy Lunar New Year 2005. Computer update: Seems that I'm going to be forced to buy a new CPU cooling solution. My CPU fan is working very hard trying too cool down the Prescott Pentium 4 CPU. At maximum rpm (and very audible indeed) the CPU temperature stays at 60 deg C which reaches up to 66 deg C. I notice Thermal Throttling to be in progress, skipping CPU cycles to help cool the CPU down. Arctic Silver 3 is supposed to help reduce the temperature but still, it stays at an average of 62 deg C. Is it time to get Arctic Silver 5, go water cooling (thinking of the Thermaltake Big Water Cooling Kit which costs average S$200/-) or try to clean the tested Intel Boxed CPU Cooler??? It's dusty to look at, but it's confusing to remove the fan off the heatsink... so will it be a true expenditure for the Big Water??? Let me think about it... BTW the Prescott can handle up to 115 deg C but when it reaches that temperature, the CPU will turn itself 'off' resulting in computer hang's (i.e voltage is cut off to prevent CPU from burning up)

February 7 2005

All seems ok now in my workplace, and for that, more stringent rules have been implemented (well actually they are old existing rules that have been shelved to one corner and are thus reverted back to help straighten out hard heads). We hope that it would not happen again. And tomorrow is games day for those involved in field soccer, so called CNY Eve showdown...

February 6 2005

Got a doodle-board now. Feel free to type anything in it. Found in major pages of my website.

February 4 2005

There's meeting on Sunday at church (same time), for those who are in the same society I am in knows what I am talking about. Also feel like buying Arctic Silver 5 after meeting, only feel like, it's up to my final decision on the day itself. And I wish for the stupid thief to surrender himself and not burden us anymore and the nut-stay-in punishment to flush out the culprit is not working at all even we already knew it won't work, but I do HOPE that everything goes back to normal on Monday... Please pray for it to happen...

February 1 2005

Yey, today I went to Sim Lim to search for Antec NeoPower 480W PSU but couldn't find even though I probed every floor from top. Then I noticed the Silverstone Strider Series PSU, and upon close inspection of it's specifications, bought that brand and model instead for S$159. Cool black titanium finish, it outputs a maximum of 460W,  ATX12V 2.0 compliant, so it is capable of 24pin + 4pin, and uses honeycomb design and a huge slow spinning 120mm intake exhaust fan that pushes a lot of air at 1500rpm. More info of the brand and company can be found at Silverstone Technology Co., Ltd., and more info of the PSU can be found here (last checked on Feb 1). [Note product site can relocate without my knowledge as I am not affiliated to the company]. Also in near days to come I would be updating the prescott page with latest pictures of my computer as the current page is out of date for a long while, only it's words (not pictures) are more up to date.

January 29 2005

Tomorrow I have guard duty, regimental one haha, its 24hrs duty because it is a weekend/public holiday. And yesterday night I found that my cpu fan is rotating much more faster than before (and due to that you can hear it's whine very clearly). A closer inspection of my casing innards and I found out that the PSU secondary 92mm intake exhaust fan (just above the cpu fan) was not turning at all. Boot to bios states that the fan is rotating at 900rpm, way lower than before (it was about 1600rpm last time). And switching it off and on again registered the big 120mm fan to slightly twitch or acted like a low battery car where it would try to start but can't... This means I have to buy another PSU, but it would only be after Chinese New Year, which is on 12-13 Feb, a weekend, or the weekend before that, but then I wouldn't have my Feb pay yet... Also the PSU is getting more warmer than usual, so I am afraid it would 'pass out' on me permanently... Have to research on a psu that is max SGD200 but average from SGD150 to SGD175. Hardwarezone.com, here I come...

January 26 2005

COC Parade is on tomorrow, I'm in the GOH contingent, all those intensive arms drill have been rehearsed repeatedly and tomorrow is the day to show our fine and flawless precise drills, to all visitors, military and civilian who would be present tomorrow for the parade. Also on 1st February, if there are any changes in hardware prices, I would be updating my Computer Configuration Page.

January 20 2005

For those who loved playing Transport Tycoon which is already 10 years old, now and before, good news, Chris Sawyer, it's author has released the sequel to the game, titled Locomotion, under the Atari brand, the game promises the same objectives, to manage and provide transportation to areas that require them. Build railroads to lug cargo and transport passengers town to town. Road vehicles to move goods, and provide in-town bus services. There is also tram transport, where it complements in-town passenger service. Planes and ships as well. Locomotion, the sequel to Transport Tycoon is an outstanding tycoon based game, with newer challenges, newer scenarios and still has the same gameplay as before. Market US Price of 29.90, in Singapore it is sold for S$49.90. I also got myself a new mousepad, The Barracuda, with Neu-Technology, dual surface mouse pad to choose between smooth and precise movement & traction and control surface. Affix the surFX mouse feet for additional smoothness and accuracy coupled with the Barracuda MousePad. Selling for S$42.90 @ CyberActive

January 17 2005

My ProShock Action Arcade Stick is a goner after yesterday's arcade button mashing, I opened it up to inspect what had gone wrong to the d-pad, where moving the stick to the left gathered no response, and in calibration mode, it's default direction is left, where it should have been centre. Closer inspection of the contact points where the d-pad responds to your direction was the internal spring had broken off and the contact point therefore was flushed in. The purpose of the spring is to rebound back the contact point and it's metal connector in it. The spring hook broke off and the metal contact point was in permanent 'closed' position, therefore rendering it permanently left, not centre. The d-pad cannot be fixed unless a same spring has been found in hardware shops or similar. Till then, it is R.I.P for the Arcade Stick. I may purchase a new one, but who knows when, I still have a spare one... but having 2 is the best, the real arcade feel...

January 16 2005

Many friends/colleagues of mine have been asking me what is the best configuration that they can get for a specific budget. So here goes, I have compiled a page of computer configurations, Intel and AMD for a specific budget, I have divided it to 3 budgets, entry level, mainstream gaming level and high end gaming level. I did not put a Ultra high gaming level configuration as it already states you have so much budget that you can just pick anything high end yourself. The link is here, and can also be found below the page at the links corner.

Now I feel like buying an appropriate gaming mouse pad to combine with my MX700 coupled with SureFX Mouse Feet, as I feel that the Barracuda Lite Mouse pad is not giving the required edge for my frequent fragging in Counter-Strike. On the Barracuda site, the Barracuda S.E, Barracuda Frosted Edge and Barracuda BX-Bauxite gaming pads are of good choice, for a price too... I am thinking of the Frosted Edge second the S.E, for the BX-Bauxite it is an aluminum version of the S.E pad...  Now I have to go and find out the cost of the Frosted Edge...

It will be Friday again tomorrow, 2nd week of January has passed by so quickly and soon Chinese New Year is here.. I just tried Linux using Knoppix 3.7 which can be downloaded here. Those wanting to experience Linux but do not want the hassle of installing it alongside Windows can download that Linux as it runs on CD. Simply download it from the given link and use burn image to CD option using a burning software such as NERO or similar, set your computer to boot using CD and voila... Try surfing the net and using the Linux versions of instant messaging software...

Yehey, it was half-a-day deployment, so got to pack-up a few hours after we set-up today.. everybody had fun, including us signalers and drivers, going deaf maybe during our deployment, just by watching aircraft take off, especially fighter jets... To sum up, it is actually simple to what you are going to do in deployments, just the same stuff u have to do normally everyday in your unit on normal working hours...

January 10 2005

Off to deployment from 11th till possibly 13th Jan. Can't say much, but it is part of Army life... Well, see you all in max 3 days time.

January 8 2005

My computer is up and running again. Yey, thanks to the CDL Trading computer technician who was on duty today, his simple brush off dust on the motherboard has revived my motherboard.. :) Yehey!! Thank you!!. Anyway, here is what happened during that 3 day downtime.

(AM) Went CDL Trading for assumed 1-1 exchange of  'dead/shorted' motherboard. Shop technician performed preliminary motherboard inspection for physical damage, then brushed off the dust thoroughly of my 5 month old GA-8I915P-G motherboard, and proceeded to install the test P4 530 LGA CPU and 2x Geil DDR and it booted successfully, he performed benchmark to test motherboard functions and all passed. I then explained what troubleshooting I did and he gave tips and concluded that it could be the RAM, CPU or the 12V 4pin i.e. the PSU may be giving way. Thanked him for his service and went home to determine if it were the other hardware.

(PM) Started to 'reassemble' the computer. Removed the HDD cage and dismounted the DVD-Writer. Screwed the motherboard onto the spacers with the CPU, RAM and PCI-E graphics installed. Attached the required minimum external computer accessories and powered up the computer, and to my surprise it booted up, with CMOS checksum error. Never mind the error, switched off and resumed to appropriately connect the rest of the hardware and arrange the wiring, then resetting the BIOS to the last configuration I could remember, and proceeded to use the computer as per normal. CONCLUSION: The dust when I was doing a major clean-up of the computer innards could have blocked the connectors/connections therefore registering no beeps at all when trying to POST. The super clean-up using non-static brush by the technician in the morning had helped 'revive' the motherboard.

January 6 2005

Prescott rig goes downtime due major cleaning, and after the major cleaning motherboard sought problem was assumed after computer failed to register an all OK beep when switched on. Removed all components and performed a naked computer test to listen for siren beeps (for no CPU/RAM installed warning beep) but none were heard.
