The Petualangan Sherina Interview Hi Nabil, how are you now and the Indonesian scene after the earth quake hit your country? Hey man! I'm doing great. I've finished my studies pretty much at the right time, since my campus is badly destroyed after the quake hits Yogyakarta. Now I've returned back to Jakarta, struggling to find myself a job. The quake devastated our town and killed thousands of people, but that doesn't stop the scene for growing stronger and much more stronger! The name behind of TPS is came from a 10 year old girl who raped by his own father that soon turn her pain into pleasures. Is this story is true or a fictional only? And what keep you in your mind to name your band as TPS? It is fictional, but I spiced up the story a little bit though. I enjoy watching brutal, masochist Japanese hentai, that's where the idea came up to me. Petualangan Sherina in English actually means "The Adventure of Sherina" which coincidently also, a name of a famous children movie played by a child star also called Sherina. People think that I'm just a pervert. I don't really care. TPS is a one man band. Right? What do you think is the advantage and disadvantage of a one man band in this kind of music? Do you have any plan to hire any band member or to look somebody who could session with you. Yes, you're right it is. Well actually, the advantage is that I could exploit the music as far as I want even beyond my own imaginations. There are no complicated disadvantages, I think. I really enjoy making "songs" � or noise�whatever they call it, from my computer, then introduce them to the scene here in Indonesia and the world. For sessions, I usually prepare the materials first, then I burn it as audio CD for rehearsals or live shows� then we growl and make noises enjoying the tunes. My friend Indra of To x Die actually helps me with the growling vocals on some occasions. Besides of guitars and drums what other equipment do you use on your band? Do you also add some sample like some voice of horny girls, etc�.? I use FL Studio 5 (during the making of the old stuffs, now I use the latest version FL Studio 7). Yes, I love voice samples of horny girls :) Tell us what other bands inspired you to form this kind of band. Is this your first band? Also give us a list of bands you like most to listen besides of goregrind porno band. I'm a grindcore freak! I listen to grindcore since I was a little kid. Anal Cunt really inspired me to form a grindcore band. While S.M.E.S inspired me the most to form TxPxSx. No, this is not the first band that I formed alone. I also had a goregrind band called Defecated Organs (RIP). Before forming TxPxSx, I also played bass and sing for a deathmetal band called Tewas (meaning Death in English). Then I played bass in two old school hardcore bands called Never Change and Stronger Than Before. Now I also make drum beats and loops for a shoe gazer band called Adiksinada here in Jakarta. Do you have any plan to form another band with members on guitar, drums, bass, vocal? Yes, I might! Because playing in a 4 man grindcore band is definitely more fun! Let's just wait and see� TPS website looks need an attention coz some info on the site is quite outdated. Who managed the site and what's new with the band? You are so right! The website is really outdated. My friend used to manage it for me. But I haven't heard much of him lately. The latest news is that TxPxSx was reviewed by an Indonesian label and joined its compilation CD. I think I should update the website real soon! Tell us something with your upcoming split project of TxPxSx, Anus Tumor (GER), Muschifurz (SWI), Scumfuck. Who will be release this split project and what format? I am really looking forward for this split project. Unfortunately, the project has to be delayed because of some reasons. I also haven't finished with my 11 songs materials. I've got some problems with my computer, and I couldn't afford to fix it. So, I guess I have to do it elsewhere. This will take a lot of time rendering and etc. The split will be released under SKP Records Germany in CD-R format. Is there any other porn, cyber, gore, grindcore band there at Indonesia? Tell us something more about the scene and some bands you could recommend to us. There are a lot of great grindcore bands here in Indonesia. The scene is huge in here. I wish I could mention all of them one by one, but just to name a few, I recommend you to check out Cranial Incisored, To x Die, Grindbuto, Noxa, Extreme Decay, Windstruck, Proletar, Tersanjung 13 Corrupshit. Great stuff! Have you been played already on a live show? What is people reaction on your show? Yes, a couple of times. It was always a great show. Many people showed up and they are really interested in TxPxSx and cyber grindcore, which is great! What about outside Indonesia, have you been tour already. What, where and when? No, I haven't got the chance to tour outside Indonesia. It would be an amazing experience if I could realize that! The South East Asia perhaps? Besides of your band what are the other things keep you busy right now? College! Shit, I finally finish my studies. Right now I'm busy finding a job. Besides that, I'm doing another noise grind project called Exploited Asian Teens. It is also a one man band that I form a couple of months ago. The band is on a 4 way split called "HACKED IN 4 PIECES" with Gynophagia (US), Anus Tumor, Bloody Rectum (GER). The split itself will be release in the USA under Kinetic Sleaze Productions and in Germany under SKP Records. I'm currently looking for an Indonesian label to release it as well. Are you guys interested? Ok bro last question. What do you know about Philippines? I've heard a lot of bands from the Philippines. To name a few, Human Mastication, Catalepsis etc We are pretty close neighbors, you guys should tour Indonesia sometimes!
