Onanizer Interview

Hello Karel. How are you know and what is new with the band.
Hi mate, at the very moment I'm on a night shift at front office in hotel, where I work, with my feet up, drinking beer, typing on keyboard and thinking of some cleverness for you. So I'm very well!: What's new? Well, it depend what "new" means to you. For someone might be new, that we even exist, hehe. For those more tuned might be interesting, that we've changed our drummer after 9 years, so we are all anxious for the first gig with him. Anyway, all important you get from our site www.onanizer.com.

If I'm not mistaken the latest album you have is "Too good to be true". Could you please tell us more about this album and what's new we expect on this album.
Yep, you are right; our latest stuff is really "Allt For God Emot Vara Sant". It was recorded in 5 days or so in Hellsound studio in Czech, almost a year ago and we are more than happy with the final sound and especially with the price of the recording ;). Except studio tracks, there are some live audio songs and about 10 minutes of live video shit. The only problem is that some of those songs sound too slow to us nowadays, so await the next stuff to be even more furious!

Your "Too good to be true" album was released by Lecter Music, tell us how it started to have a new record under this label and tell us your relation between this label.
Well, Lecter is a small label, ru(i)nned by 1 guy and he'll probably stay small even in the future We've been friends for some time already, so when he offered us releasing, he was actually the first one and because we are lazy arses, we didn't look further anymore. He gave us some pieces in the worth of studio expenses and showed on a few shows with our record on his table. He hasn't done anything bad to us, but we expected more. Sending promo packages, finding shows and so, I had to do by myself. In the end it looked like we are promoting him, not him us.

How's Panda Music now. Your previous album 'Rop' was released under this label, any reason why it won't have any second chances to have another release from this label.
Uff, this is even worse case than Lecter, hehe. It would take too long to explain all the reasons This guy simply did nothing for us. It is a little village boy with big plans, while sitting in front of the screen. Yeah, no contacts in UG at all, no attending live shows, nothing, but all the time is planning how to make base caps, t-shirts or other shit with our logo, haha. When we found out what it is all about, it was too late to change anything in the booklet and Panda Music stayed there. More exact would be - released by Onanizer. So even here, we helped him to introduce his "label" to fans, even though it should've been it the other way

You have a new drummer right! Well how's Onanizer with your new drummer. Why your previous drummer leaved the band?
You are tuned, I must say.: Yesss, we have a new grind man! It took us a few months to find someone, but we scored finally. "Davezerker" is mega experienced guy, who plays drums since 91' or so and we are more than lucky to play with him. Our ex - drummer is over 30 years old and he simply wanted to change his lifestyle a bit. For the price of loosing place in Onanizer, he left for UK to learn English and to earn some bucks. We weren't too happy about it, as it was shortly after releasing "Too Good" and we had to stop touring in the best for a while, but all turned out well recently and it looks out promising again nowadays

Besides on Onanizer do you have any other band you have been involved or any activities you makes you busy.
Except our drummer, who plays in sporadically rehearsing Plastic Grave, nobody else has other band. We all are busy with our work/studies/girlfriends, so 1 band is more than enough. With our vocalist we also run www.metalmap.czweb.org and www.payo.cz. So anyone interested in getting known in Czech, get in touch with me for a sure review/interview. Only extreme stuff, please!

How is it Czech Rep grind / death scene compare to other euro country? Do you think most of the brutal and dominant bands in the grind scene are in Czech.?
In comparison to how small our country is, we really have plenty grind/death bands and gigs here. Sometimes too many, which reflects on small attendance of some shows. To be less of it, every show would be precious, like it is eg. In your land. Every country has their own grind horses, can't say if we have the wildest, but if you think so, that's good! :)

Who is your fave Czech grind band? And your foreign grind band.
Hard to say. There are more of them. Gride, Pigsty, koda 120, Lycanthrophy, Ingrowing From abroad definitely Anal Cunt.

I see that you have lots of gig schedule this coming April, how often you play gig and how did you manage your entire schedule to confirmed in every gig sched.
Yeah, April/May is gonna be a bit busier for us, but I don't think it's somehow unusual. Sometimes we might play 6x a month, the other time just once. It's various. If it was up to me, I would play every weekend, but especially our drummer has not so much free time, so I had to refuse some offers for grinding lately. As I work as receptionist, always connected to I-net and to other grind freaks, we have no troubles with finding gigs.

What about the band name ONANIZER, I tried to search to the web but what your band name means?
Huhu, that sounds as good question to make a contest for your readers! Ok, anyone, who will find out what Onanizer means, will get a special present from us! You can also participate, haha.
(Joselito : Ok, to all grind freaks out there could guess the meaning of Onanizer, email your answer to Karel and receive a lifetime supply of their latest album (kidding!). Just email him and wait what present they can give. ) :)

How long have you been in underground scene? Have you been start as a punk lover or a metal fanatic?
Definitely metal freak. Don't like punk/HC much. I started with this shit when I was 12/13 or so. Nowadays I'm 27. Firstly it was purely death metal and around 16 I appeared taste of grind core, which I prefer till today. Also like black metal. But punk still hasn't come to me and probably will never come. If there are not extreme vocals or blastbeats, it doesn't go into my ears.

Tell us short history of ONANIZER and your update discography.
Uaaa! And I thought I escaped this question: Ok, but really short. Start 96', then some deaf years between 2000-2002, then we took second breath, which we've been keeping till nowadays. The most important releases are for sure "Ansikte Mot Ansikte" MC (97'), Split 7' EP with Cause of Divorce (98') and Cd's "Rop (03') and "Too Good To Be True" (05'). New songs will be recorded at the end of this year... For more take a look on our site.
Joselito: That's what you think. Ha!

Mostly what topic do you write on your lyrics? What topic are you much more prefer, socio political lyrics or some pathological, gore horror type of lyrics.
As I'm not the lyricist in the band, can't tell you exactly. What I know, they are not political, neither gore. More or less they are about common live and things around us. Have you ever met any politician or saw dead body with crushed head on the street? I haven't. Somewhere we even don't use any lyrics. As concerns me, for me are lyrics not too important in such a style like grind core. Nobody understands it anyway. Would like to know how many grind core lovers after listening is going to search for lyrics

What do you know about Philippines?
Well, there's not much. I know, that you have a lot of dangerous active volcanoes, which caused lot of damage recently Your capital is Manila, you have lots of nice girls and tennis players Taino and MamiitYour country is very exotic for us, it's kinda big dream for most of travelers from here. And yeah, some time ago, I also somewhere in newspaper read warning about not visiting south of Philippines because of kidnapping

Well I guess that's for all now. Thanks for your time to answer this interview. Any last words you would like to say.
Cheers a lot for your time and interest in Onanizer! We really appreciate it, bro! Must say this was the most serious interview I've ever done, hehe. Hope to tour your country one day! Any grind freaks interested to get in touch with 1 similar geezer from the Czech Republic, don't be shy and write me on [email protected]! Stay grind
