Cause For Effect is one of the duo band nowadays in grindcore scene with their own style called "fusion". Their latest mcd album called Proffesional 300 is out now under the label of Bucho Discos. Well lets read the interview to know more about "fusion".
Interview by Joselito, Answered by Tuomo, Done February 10, 2005 thru email

Hello Tuomo, how are you now? What is new with Cause For Effect?
- Composing new material for next recordingg and doing some gigs, same as always

The band has their own style of grindcore called fusion, can you pls describe to us how its sounds all about?
- Its a technical and complex grindcore pllayed only by bass and drums. Also different kind of music styles have blended together and the result is our sound that we call fusion grindcore.

Are there any other bands similar with your style or this only done originally by the band?
- As a duo, I guess were the only one grinnd oriented complexity but German Le Scrawl is our big influence and they are forefathers of jazzgrind, they have more instruments though. Sabot from Czech is a perfect bass/Drums duo but they play long middle tempo prog-core.

Technically speaking CFE play very well and obviously play very professional. Besides this band have you been play also in other kind of band not like as grindcore?
- We have both metal roots and we have playyed different kind of music. Also we jam a lot and play everything but grindcore.

What about your history. Can you give feed us some info of CFE and who's the member of it.Also goes for each band member influences except LE SCRAWL. (He!)
- formed in 1992
- trio 1992-1996
- session guitarist 1996-1999
- duo 1999 --
- thrash metal 1992
- metalcore 1993-1994
- rock grind 1994-1999
- fusion grind 1999 --
- 2 full lenght CD's
- 2 MCD's
- bunch of splits
- 4 european tours
- about 100 gigs

Line up is Tuomo - bass and voice and Ari - drums

You have your latest release CFE mini cd. Could you tell us more about this new record?
- Its called Professional 300 and it incluudes 18 new tracks within 14:12 minutes. Our best release so far as musically, played and all in all Its available from me and if you want to know prices, contact me.

And what is the difference on your latest mcd compare to your previous album cd. Is there any changes happened coz I see that on your latest mcd you got only 18 tracks while on your previous album cd it contains almost 42 songs?
- Professional 300 is a MCD, thats why it has only 18 tracks. Album is a full length CD, thats why it has 42 songs. (J = yes, youre right!) As a musically Pro-300 is a logical step to next level, better played songs, better structures and all in all better release but also Album is a very good recording.

CFE is a duo band. Do you have any plan to add another guitarist or maybe solo vocalist, etc
- No, we dont have any need to add extra iinstruments to our sound.

I guess music is much more important to CFE than lyrics, but mostly what topic or what you tackled on your lyrics all about.
- Our lyrics are mostly socio-political butt also some humor elements added as well. Based on real life and I let people to decide what I try to say, I dont explain my lyrics

Are you also guys into vegan/vegetarian, straightedge, of involved in any other group/activities? What can you say about these things Ive mentioned?
- We are musicians and we have our personall life.

Hows your relation with Bucho Discos label. Its quite that you got already two records released by BD with your latest album right now.
- They are really cool and the co-operationn is a fine example for DIY labels how to run things.

Do you have any plan or offer to make new album from other record labels?
- We have some plans but nothing official yyet.

How its started that you got some album released in Bucho Disco. Any future project to come for CFE to Bucho Discos?
- Lets see

What about other record label who plan to release your future album someday. Any requirements needed or demands you would ask before they can release your stuff?
- Decent distribution is the key. The availlability of the CD, so people doesnt have to order it by mail from the other side of the planet.

Can you tell us more about the polish grind core scene right now? Any other polish band you recommended or would like to talk about
- Why do you ask me polish scene? We are Fiinnish and I know only Dead Infection as a grind band from Poland. There are great death metal bands.

Yeah I know. I just only want to ask (hmm) but what about your local scene in finland mostly into grindcore. Coz since before band only into crust/hc what i knew.
- Finnish grind scene is small but we have some good bands like Rotten Sound, Positive Bastards, To Separate The Flesh From The Bones and CFE. Grind is getting more popular here slowly but steadily

Well, Im just only curious even its quite boring. What do you know about the Philippines?
- Lots of islands, poverty, people and cattholism, the usual stuff from the news.

Have you been tour already to Europe? What is there reaction or feedback about your music and performances?
- We have toured 4 times in Europe and the feedback has been really good. Audience looks and sounds the same everywhere.

What about touring in Asia. Do you have any plan or offer to come?
- No, its too expensive and hard to organiize.

Ok last question. Why you answer all my questions quite too short? Are you tired on the time you answer this or what? (Just curious and don't take it serious)
- Short? I like to the point answers and lyyrics, unnecessary explanation is useless...

Well I guess thats all for now Tuomo. Thanks for your time and effort to answer this interview. Pls tell us more you want to say.
