| Helena sat perfect as stone. Someone was in the room. Her mind was twirling in so many directions.
"Hello?" She called out, hoping that no one would answer her. She heard a faint scratching noise in the corner. She started to reach for the light as a small voice told her to stop. Her body tensed from fear. "Who... who.. are you?" She stuttered out. "I am Nathaniel. I have come here to do no harm. I heard you from your door and I thought you where being attacked. I am so sorry to have scared you." Helena's mind started to calm down a little bit, but her body knew better and was still in fighting mode. She tried to even out her voice. "You can most definitely leave. I am not being attacked by anyone." She reached over and turned on the lamp. He was beautiful, she thought. She quickly shook her head to get the thought out. He was a strange man in her room, after all. "I will leave now. I am sorry for frightening you, madam." He stood up and slowly walked out the door, shutting it behind him. Nathaniel stood outside of her room. His whole body shook. Images flashed through his head. Too many at once but he caught pieces of some. Amanda laying on the ground with a small boy screaming. Amanda laying in bed beckoning him to go to her. Amanda's life being taking from her... from his own hands. Nathaniel shook his head. Tears started to fall from his eyes as he recalled them. She deserved it. She teased you. She did not. I took something that was not mine. Not you. But I. Don't take the credit for my doings. The voice receded again. How could he be in love with her. It didn't make sense. Nathaniel walked out into the black night again. He found a spot under a tree and laid his head against it. "I think I am going to sit here for awhile and think," he said out loud to himself. Without knowing it, the blackness claimed him. Helena sat once more in the dark. She was hugging herself, trying to figure out if she had ever seen the man before. Then the thought hit her. He was there, all those times I felt followed. "Damn it, damn," she said out loud. "How could I be so stupid?" Thoughts kept swirling through her head. The dream. The face under the hood. It was his. He had something to do with her mother and Jeremy. She knew it. Felt it in her bones. The dream came back to her and she remembered the horrifying reality of it. It was all real. He had disappeared that night. The men in the hoods took him. Tears started to form in her eyes as she thought of her lost brother and mother. Her only family. The thought of her mother brought more painful memories. She had been on a date that night. If only she hadn't gone out, maybe... Just maybe her mother would still be here. Brad had taken her out to the movies. When she got home she ran up to her mother's room to tell her all the details and she found her in bed. She had looked like she was sleeping peacefully. More tears slid down Helena's cheeks. She had tried to wake her. Her skin was cold and pale. She had checked for a pulse and found none. She knew she should have called someone but she couldn't move. Helena snapped out of her trance and wiped her cheeks. She got out of bed and walked to the window. The moon was full and shone over the courtyard. At that moment, Helena cried. Cried for her mother and her brother. Jeremy stood in the shadows of a tree watching his baby sister cry. He wanted to reach her, tell her he was okay. But he knew that it would be against his sire's orders. He felt a hand reach his and he knew that he was not alone. "You must leave her, son. You do not wish to be seen here." Emotions filled Jeremy as he started to walk away.. " I was suppose to protect her," he said softly under his breath |
