| Emily rubbed Helena's back as they slowly walked out of the police station.
"You have no idea what I saw, Emily, the things that they are accusing me of--" Helena broke off with a sob in her throat. A loud commotion broke out behind them as Emily pushed Helena out the door onto the dark street. "Just keep walking, sweetheart, and when we get home I'll draw up a nice hot bath for you to relax in. Don't you dare for a moment worry about me. That asshole had no right to pressure you like that." Emily continued to rub Helena's back as sob after sob rocked her body. "But... carving... my name..." Helena rambled. Clouds rolled in over the moonlit sky and rain started to pour down as Emily and Helena ran to the house. Jeremy sat at the desk in his small basement apartment with a folder lying in front of him. Every so often he would look over at a bloody napkin lying next to it, thinking of how the blood got there from the encounter with his father. Thoughts still reeled through his head. After all this time the bastard was still around, and after Helena. He let out a sigh as he heard rain falling outside the blacked out window. A light knock sounded at the door as a small redheaded female let herself in. She walked over to Jeremy and laid a hand on his shoulder. "Baby, you need to stop this, you're not suppose to be in contact with her. There is nothing you can do for her. Are you willing to risk everything you have for this female?" Jeremy slammed his chair back and glared at the woman. "She's my fucking sister; she is my flesh and blood. I don't care who's blood runs through my veins, she is my family and I am not about to stand here and let this happen to her. That damn detective is sticking his nose somewhere where it does not belong and it's going to kick him in the ass. As far as contacting Helena, have I walked up to her and said 'Hi?' No, no I haven't. So fuck off." Jeremy walked away from the desk and paced in a straight line, letting out small sighs. The female took small steps to reach his side; she slowly placed her arms around him and drew him to her small body. "Hun, I know. I'm not trying to stop you; I know how family goes, but promise me you will be careful. I don't want to lose my favorite lover. Come with me and lay down, leave the folder for later." Jeremy pushed her away and continued to pace. "I need to kill them, my father and the detective. I must keep her safe at all costs." Helena sat in the bathtub trying not to cry. She didn't think it was possible to cry anymore, but image after image ran through her mind. As a child, Mr. Chase would push her on the swing or she would go to him and cry on his shoulder, and he would make her waffles to put a smile on her face, now he was nothing more than a dead body lying on a cold slab with her name carved into his flesh. Fresh tears filled her eyes as she tried to remain calm. There was a knock at the door as Emily walked into the bathroom. "Come on, hun, it's time to get out. I'm sure that water is ice cold by now. Why don't you try lying down and sleeping? You need to relax." Helena finally let herself go and tears poured from her eyes as she raised her shaking body from the cold water. Emily held up a towel and wrapped her in it, at the same time wrapping her arms around her best friend. "I know, hun. Let it out." Tears shook Helena's body as Emily held her. No words could come to mind as to how she felt, so she stayed quiet and cried. Emily paced back and forth in her room as thoughts filled her mind. She had finally gotten Helena to lie down and try sleep for the night. He was back and she had done something very illegal. Emily kept shaking her head as Devin walked into the room. "You need to calm down. If Helena even gets wind of this she's going to freak out. She's already having a really hard time dealing with Mr. Chase. You need to keep your cool, sweetheart. Think of us, think of our wedding. You did what was necessary for Helena." Emily kept shaking her head as Devin's words ran over her. "He's back, Devin. He's really back and I can't tell her. Do you know what this could do to her?" Devin walked over to Emily and took her into his arms. He lowered his lips to her ear and whispered softly, "Sweetheart, no matter what happens we will be here for her. She has people who love her." |
