Carlsbad, CA - At 11:45, Saturday evening, the body of one office of the Carlsbad Police Department was discovered in the wreckage of his squad car. three other officers who had been called to the location are missing and presumed dead. The slain officer, whose name has been withheld pending notification of his family, was found sitting in the wreckage of his squad car, which had been badly burned. Investigating authorities have revealed that a large hole in the roof of the car may have been created just prior to the accident. Fiber samples taken from the scene have led authorities to search for an abnormally large man, possibly wearing a fur coat, under the influence of PCP or a similar mind-altering substance. |

The four officers were responding to a call placed by Mayor Smith of Carlsbad, after a seance being performed by a supposed gypsy medium was broken up by a large unidentified man who assaulted the medium and then fled into the night. Descriptions of the man vary from witness to witness too greatly for an accurate identification to be made. From police tapes of the radio reports from the scene, the initial officer ran into several armed men, carrying heavy guage firearms, and called for backup. The other officers were the first to respond. Forensics experts took blood and shell fragment samples from several sources at the scene in an attempt tp trace the identities of the mysterious gunmen. The Chief of Police has called a state of tactical alert within the city, and the special task force on organized crime has been alerted. |

An official statement by the police department spokesperson was made at 7:30 am on Sunday, detailing this information and assuring the populace that all efforts are being made to solve the crime and locate the missing officers. Suspicions of gang on gang war are high within the department, although no official verification of that sentiment is being made at this time. The mayor, who fled the scene along with Mrs. Evelynne Fenwick, widow of the late Henry Fenwick of the Fenwick Muffler Chain, was unharmed in the altercation. Police have set up a hotline that people are urged to call if they have any information which could lead to the apprehension of suspects in this case. The suspects are considered armed and extremely dangerous and should not be approached under any circumstances. |
Santino Giovanni, who had been the Don of San Diego, was recently killed and diablerized while visiting a club in Long Beach. This was quickly followed by Enzio Giovanni stepping down as Lord of the West Coast (due to other obligations). Liam Dunsirn took over for Enzio, and Drianda Giovanni was made Dona of San Diego.
In other news, a challenge was issued against Dr. Lido Scollini Giovanni, MD, by a member of the Huntington Beach Brujah, and theirs was the initial battle in the newly functional BattleDome. We are happy to report that Dr. Giovanni was victorious in the battle to the death and is currently being nursed back to health by Angelina D'Attello Giovanni. In a brief interview following the death match, Dr. Giovanni expressed his suprise to this reporter. "I never expected to beat a Brujah," he exclaimed before collapsing.
