Now, I could pretend to you that I knew him, or at least that I had seen him, but alas it would be untrue. There is a possibility that I did see him because the school he went to is right near my house, but it is completely impossible for me to say. For one I was only eleven years old when he left, meaning that I would have had very little interest in boys, and for another why the hell would I remember seeing someone who was just that someone. Its not like he has been famous all his life. So if I did happen to pass him in the street then he was just some older boy. So I am not going to pretend to you that he was my best friend [sadly I know a few people who are claiming to have some link to him, no matter how obscure].
So anyway, the fact that Orlando is a Canterbury lad makes him all that more appealing. But its definitely not just that, otherwise I would be running after every guy who lives in the same city as me. No, Orlando Bloom is very intriguing. It still amazes me that he was picked from, Im guessing, thousands to play Legolas Greenleaf in Peter Jacksons film of the J. R. R. Tolkien book The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. I mean lets think about it. Orlando Bloom has short dark hair, olivish skin and brown eyes, yet Legolas has long blond hair, pale white skin and blue eyes. The only conclusion I can come to is that Peter Jackson saw talent in Orlando and thought that he was the most suitable candidate for the role. And can we thank the Lord that he did! It is pretty crazy though that he was picked. And seriously, it must mean that Orlando Bloom is an incredibly talented actor. Legolas doesnt say much throughout FotR but I honestly could not take my eyes off of him when he was on screen. He moved with grace, he could seriously shoot those arrows, and when he did speak what he said was worth listening to.
To be honest FotR would have been fantastic without Orlando Bloom, but for me he was definitely part of the appeal. I am really looking forward to the next two instalments roll on Christmas.
[December 25, 2002] - saw The Two Towers on Monday, and I have to say that that film was damn long. I loved it. Fantastic effects, acting, directing etc. etc., but I prefer FotR. Maybe because there was so much fighting in TTT, and I know that that's how it has to be, but I just found the first film more enjoyable. Orlando was as lovely as always. And the banter between Legolas and Gimli was pretty funny... and bless Gollum, if only Smeagol was stronger!!

Where to begin? Once again we have the added bonus that Mr Bloom is English, plus he actually lived in the same city as me. He doesnt any longer, and hasnt for about eight years, I think [he left Canterbury when he was 16 apparently].
