Modesto Police Bust Undocumented Labour Ring; Area Man Charged
by Dozr
Modesto, California
In an attempt to stem an unprecented influx of off-the-books labour, the Modesto Police
Department, in conjunction with the INS, raided several Modesto homes and businesses. What they
found was shocking: an overwhelming 49,692 undocumented migrant workers. A figure that seems
inconceivable for a community of 182,000. What's even more surprising is that they have all been
traced to one man, a Charles de Geraint. One of the many illegal immigrants employed in his own
home, a Manuel Diego, spoke to us briefly. "Senor Chip es muy bueno. He help me to get monies to
send to mi familia. Fourteen centavos a day. Viva la Senor Chip!"
Geraint will be arraigned Thursday on 49,692 counts of being a cheapskate. When asked for a
statement on how the case was expected to turn out, his lawyers replied "No engles!"
