This year in October I went on a ten-day, two-city, (Kyoto & Tokyo) trip to Japan. Before I left I was really excited about going since I had seen "Big Bird in Japan" when I was little. It was also the first "vacation" I had been on in almost two years... I have to admit that when I got to Japan I did a lot of comparing with Korea since that was where I had been living for close to a year. In many ways Korea & Japan are very similiar but in a lot of ways they are different too...Japan is cleaner but Korea is cheaper, Japan seems more crowded but Korea is not as modern, etc. In the end I like them both for different reasons...I like Japan for the nice Buddhist monk I met in Kyoto (pictured) and I like how Japanese businessmen in suits still ride bicycles to work in Ginza... |
