Whenever Kyoto comes to mind I will think of rain...other than the first day (when I decided to relax instead of doing any sightseeing...) it rained the entire time I was there. If you want to see my better pics of Japan go to the Tokyo section of my pics. I am doing this in chronological order so that is why Kyoto comes first...

This is Yasaka Pagoda...the closest attraction to my "ryokan". A ryokan is a traditional Japanese hotel where you sleep on the floor and instead of taking a shower you sit on a little stool (way too little for most Westerners!!!) and cover yourself with cold soap and water. When you can take the freezing cold anymore you sit in a scalding hot tub. To Japanese that is the perfect way to stay clean...to me it was a little weird at first but I suppose one can get used to it. Maybe in the summer the water doesn't feel so cold...

The Golden Pavilion at Kinkaku-ji. I am sure it is much more impressive on a sunny day...(just kidding). It stopped raining about 15 minutes later but the sky didn't clear up too much. At least because of the rain there were not too many people there...

The countyside near Nara. I don't know the name of this town...it is a nice view though.
