"New Kids on The Block are back on the block after fifteen years. Jonathan Knight is now 39, Donnie Wahlberg 38, Joey McIntyre 35, Danny Wood 38 and Jordan Knight is 37. And you? Are you ready?".

Are you ready? After 14 years, the New Kids on the Block are reuniting. Take a trip back and remember why you promised to be loving them forever.

Boston, the boys' hometown.

Calling it quits. Though Face the Music was widely regarded as the band's best effort, it did not sell as well as their previous albums. The group parted ways in 1994.

Danny. Wood, 39, a break dancer, was one of the first to be recruited for the band by former William M. Trotter Elementary classmate, Donnie.

Everything New Kids: They graced magazine covers, pillowcases, sleeping bags, and lunchboxes. They had a line of dolls, trading cards and a hotline (you know you called it more than once). One thing that didn't make the cut? New Kids cereal.

Flop. Hard to believe, but their first self-titled album was a disaster, initially selling a reported 90,000 copies.

G-rated. Parents loved the band too because of their anti-drug messages. "We never got together and said we were going to be good role models," Wahlberg said in 1989. "When we say no to drugs, it's from seeing people around us using them."

Hangin' Tough. Their second album produced classics such as "Please Don’t Go Girl," "Hangin' Tough," "You Got It (The Right Stuff)," "Cover Girl," and "I’ll Be Loving You (Forever)." They became the first teen act to have five top 10 hits from a single album.

If You Go Away. The song, initially included on the band's foreign album, was not intended for American market. However, the hit found a place on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart anyway in 1992

Jamie Kelley. Who? Exactly. One of the first members, Jamie replaced Mark "Marky Mark" Wahlberg but was then replaced by Joey.

Knights. Younger bro Jordan, sang vocals while the shy older Knight, Jon, was content to sing back-up. "I almost never sing lead vocals and it doesn't bother me," he has said. "With us knowing each other so long we're more a family than a business."

Like a rolling stone? In 1990, their North American tour raked in $74.1 million, just behind the Rolling Stones' tour in 1989.

Multiplatinum albums? Count FIVE.

Names. No one but Maurice Starr liked the group's original name, Nynuk. The name was changed to New Kids on the Block, inspired by Donnie's rap of the same name. To give them an older vibe, they changed it to NKOTB around the time of Face the Music.

Other nickname: The guys now jokingly call themselves, "The Block" since most of them have kids of their own!

Pioneers. The boys from Beantown paved the way for future boy bands like Backstreet Boys, N'Sync, Boyz II Men, B2K, O-Town, and 98 Degrees.

Quintet. 500 boys auditioned in the early 80s in Boston for a chance to be in Maurice Starr's new boy band. His dream was to create a "white" New Edition. He borrowed $12,000 from his mother to finance a promo video that would promote "Please Don't Go Girl."

Romance. Jon Knight dated pop singer Tiffany. The singer invited the boys to open up for her on tour but soon after, she opened for them! Joe also joked that he kissed her too, just ten years later.

Step by Step. The song was a song originally performed by the Superiors three years before the Kids released it. Let's just say the Kids' rendition performed better.

The Blockheads. You know who you are. A quarter of a million of you tuned in to watch their pay-per-view concert in 1990. Eighteen years later, you stood in the rain outside the Today show in New York to hear their reunion announcement!

U.S. and beyond: According to Forbes, they were the world's highest-paid performers in 1991 ($115 million).

Vindicated. The boys were accused of lip syncing in 1992, and fought the accusations. The accuser later admitted he fabricated the story.

Wahlbergs. Donnie first caught the attention of Starr but his brother Mark, left the group. "It just wasn't me. I didn't fit," the former Funky Bunch singer said.

Xtraordinary. Billboard named them top pop group in 1989, with the most combined charted albums and singles.

Youngest member. Joey McIntyre, famous for "Please Don't Go Girl," was only 12 when he joined the group. Post-split, he had a successful solo career with his Top 20 hit "Stay the Same."

Zillions. Well, not quite, but NKOTB sold over 70 million albums and grossed more than a billion dollars.
