1. Saturday games will begin at 6:00 p.m. Forfeit time is 6:15 p.m. Each game will open and close with prayer. 2. Ten (10) men constitute a team. A minimum of eight (8) men can be used; less than eight must forfeit. If you have eight players at game time you must start the game. You cannot wait until 6:15 p.m. for additional players. If you have less than 10 players, you may not borrow players from the other team (see Rule #4 under Player Requirements). For insurance reasons, the umpire cannot officiate a game where a team does not have enough players to field a team. For the same aformentioned reasons, the umpire cannot officiate a fun game. 3. The home team supplies both the bases and the game balls. 4. Two (2) new softballs will be used each game. Only softballs furnished by the League will be allowed. 5. Each new ball will be used in the first inning. If the second ball has not been used by the start of the bottom of the first, the umpire will put it in play. 6. A team starting with less than ten (10) players may add one (1) or two (2) players at the bottom of the batting order to bring the lineup to ten players at any time during the game. If a team has ten players at the start of the game, any changes will be treated as substitutions for players already in the lineup. 7. A team may bat as many players as desired. These players do not have to play the field. However, the batting order may not change during the game. Any open position that may occur during the game will constitute an out each time. 8. Each game will consist of seven (7) innings. In case of darkness or rain, five (5) innings must be played, four and a half (4) if the home team is winning. 9. A team cannot be compelled to reschedule a game for any reason other than weather or church functions (i.e. church weddings, retreats, conferences, etc.). If a postponement is granted, the requesting team must make up the game by the ninth (9th) weekend of the season or forfeit. The team requesting a postponement must take the initiative in getting the game made up. Note: A request to reschedule a game because the BEST ten (10) players are not available is NOT a valid reason to reschedule a game and should not be considered. 10. A courtesy runner may be granted for anyone injured during that game only. It must be agreed upon by both team representatives. The courtesy runner will be the last recorded out in the game. There are no pinch runners. Note: Prior to any game, if it is determined that a player is physically not able to run for himself in the event he gets on base, he should not be playing. 11. The League will not recognize the ASA Mercy Rule. If a team is losing by ten (10) runs or more after five (5) innings of play, the losing team has the option to continue to play or not. If the game is continued, the team requesting to continue the game will pay the umpire an additional $10.00 by, or at, the end of the game. 12. Field conditions will be decided upon by the umpire. If the field is not playable, a travel fee of $20-25 will be charged. The League will also pay on the rescheduled game. 13. One (1) pitch constitutes an official game and full payment to the umpire association. 14. No team can be compelled to play a game without an umpire. However, if both teams agree to play without one, the game is official and counts towards each teams record. 15. If you start a game without an umpire and he comes late, do not restart the game. The game will should continue from the point when the umpire arrived. |
