Subject: NJCO Newsletter for Coaches #4

Dear Coach,

just a reminder -- the NJCO will take place next week, Wednesday May 20th, 8am - 2pm.

Please arrive at Tiernan Hall, NJIT by 8am. Check-in is in the main lobby. Ms. Katz or one of her assistants will provide coaches with an envelope of instructions, name tags and a campus map. From there you will be directed to the team meeting rooms where you may store your belongings. Students may help themselves to refreshments in the lobby. Breakfast is avaialble for coaches in room 104.

Students are not permitted in room 104 whatsoever.

Events begin promptly at 8:30. It is imperative that we all stick to the schedule.

All judging will be completed by 11:30, at which time lunch will be served on the steps of Tiernan Hall. Lunch is avaialble for coaches in room 104.

3] Tiernan Hall (building #22) is building #19: http://www.njit.edu/campustour/ The parking map (above) shows Tiernan Hall located between Lot 5 and the Athletic field.

4] Dress for the day is casual-professional. Students are encouraged to make their own TEAM SHIRTS. Show some spirit!

5] Judging schedule may be found on our website: http://www.geocities.com/njchemistryolympics/schedule.htm Late-commers will be disqualified.

6] Please encourage your students to observe the Research Presentions, the Demo show, the Web Page event and the Water Blaster Testing which will be held on the GReen in front of Tiernan Hall at 11 am. Spectators are NOT permitted in the lab events.

7] NJIT will provide a projector and screen for the following events only:

Event 1 - Chem Research

Event 4 - Webpage

Event 5 - Demo event

Students however must bring an extra WORKING copy of the their DVD/CD of their preentatrion as a backup.

Written reports have been received and processed, but a number of teams did

not submit their papers to Turnitin.com -- a requirement! If you haven't

submitted the paper to turnitin.com, please do so by Friday -- otherwise the

paper cannot be judged.

To verify if your paper has been received by turnitin, please sign into your

turnitin account. Instructions are available on the NJCO website. Thank

you.

Dear Coaches,

Just a reminder that the deadline for NJCO submissions is 2 days away --

submissions must be received by May 1, 4pm.

Events 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5, require submissions.

Please refer to the SPECIFIC directions for each event.

EACH team must deliver ONE envelope that includes the following items:

1] ONE submission cover sheet:

2] Signed original of the Safety & Photo release form:

3] Multiple copies of relevant papers

4] Multiple copies of DVD (if applicable)

Demos must be upload to www.youtube.com   AND the relevant link emailed to

All submissions are due by 4pm, May 1.

Unless, there is a pressing matter, the next newsletter will come out on or

about May 18th.

Dear Coaches,

we're approaching the half way point towards the May 1st deadline. We hope

that everything is going well. Just a few notes of information to keep you

up to date.

1] FYI -- a few weeks ago my email program crashed causing me to lose all my

email records. Fortunately, the NJCO schedule was complied and posted at

that time, so this information was not lost. If by any chance you sent me an

email during the month of March, please resend it.

2] For those of you participating in the Nomenclature event -- I am curious

if the software is working for you. I have heard from one school, that they

are having trouble getting it to work on their computer. If you too are

having trouble, please let me know. If you having success, please let me

know also so I can ask you what you are doing differently. If there is a

problem, we need to solve any problems by May. If a problem is in fact

discovered we will share this information with all schools ASAP.

3] Please review the schedule that is posted online. We do our best not to

make errors, but it is best if we rely on your eyes to check that what is

posted is correct.

4] As in previous years, if you have any questions regarding particular

events, you must submit your query by fax using the form posted on the

website.

Unless, there is a pressing matter, the next newsletter will come out on or

about May 1st.
