How to Submit Papers to Turnitin.com

READ ALL OF THIS BEFORE ATTEMPTING YOUR SUBMISSION.

Research Papers for events 1, 2 & 3 and Demo Outlines must be submitted To Turnitin.com. To do so, please complete the following directions:

1] Go to www.turnitin.com

2] In the top right hand corner, click on "New Users"

3] Create a User Profile using the following information:

a] Class ID: 2551352

b] Password: NJIT

c] Your email address and self-selected password (don't lose it, because we don't have access to it)

d] Only use the email address (coach's address) that you provided NJIT when you signed up your team.

e] Do not have students make the submissions on behalf of the coach.

4] Once you have completed Creating Your User Profile, click on "End Wizard and Log In". This will bring you to the Student Homepage, showing your enrolled classes (Chem Olympics)

5] Click on "Chem Olympics".

6] To submit a paper, click on "Submit" and follow the prompts.

a] Please include your school acronym in the Submission Title: (ex: Event 1 by DES-A)

b] EACH REPORT MUST BE IN THE FORM OF A SINGLE MS WORD FILE.

c] DO NOT attempt to upload more than once.  If you do so, the second submission will be identified as a plagiarized copy.  NJIT will have no way of determining if the second version has been plagiarized or not -- consequently, the paper may be disqualified.

7] Please note, that during the submission process Turnitin asks "Is this the paper you want to submit?". Click "Yes, submit". The review you see on the screen only shows the TEXT of your document (no formatting, pictures, nor graphs). To see the actual MS Word file, click on "Class Portfolio". Click on ".doc" to see all details of the document.

8] For those new to Turnitin we have created two Practice Assignments for you to practice your submissions. If you have never submitted a file to Turnitin we recommend taking the service for a "test drive" prior to committing to submitting the file reports. How? 1] Create a practice MS WORD file of anything (example: copy and paste something from the Internet and save it as a MS Word document). 2] Upload this file 3] Check your portfolio to verify that it has been received.

9] If you have any questions regarding Turnitin please refer to the Help file provided by the service.

10]  Each team must have their own email address -- you cannot use the same email address for both teams.  If necessary, create an email address using a free service such as gmail.
