| Unicenter OPS/MVS is a CA trademark
of Mainframe Automation System product for OS/390 or z/OS mainframe
operating system. It is a programable tool which provides its own
Rexx named as OPS/Rexx. Users can
deploy their own automation rules and routines using OPS/Rexx.
Without OPS/Rexx, we have to work with some very sensitive areas using
authorized assembly coding. One of OPS/MVS major facilities is System State Management (SSM). Using SSM, users can setup their mainframe to become fully unattended system. SSM is actualy a group of rules and routines which are running within OPS/MVS subsystem in OS/390 or z/OS operating system and managed by special procedures projected by SQL statements in a table called as an relational data framework (RDF) table. |
| As it is a programming work, not many users like it, although Rexx is friendly enough. Beside, doing system automation have to familiar with both systems architecture and operation behaviour. Missed in even a small thing on that areas might affect to day to day operation seriously. So that is why, deploying OPS/MVS, especially SSM feature, could become expensive efforts. |
| The Archives Here is an archive consist of SSM rules and routines which have been developed for several places in South East Asia region. In that archive includes special SSM application for cross platform scheduling (XPS) rules and routines to consolidate operation schedule between mainframe (OS/390) and other platforms in the enterprise environment. You should not use them as is, unless you are very sure this package is matched to your requirement. Strongly suggest to use this package as a starting point. Then you need to recustomize them instead. |
