I am Nishant Soni, an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati.

I did my high school from Army Public School , Dhaula Kuan , New delhi.

I was born in the beautiful city of Dehradun and have stayed at quite a few places across India as my father was in the armed forces and got transferred quite frequently. At Dehradun I went to the Cambrian Hall School. I have also spent two years in  Ahmedabad, Gujrat where I was in St. Xaviers. Finally I spent about 5 years of my life at the Ridge Wood hostel (craziest place I have been to) at the Army Public School, New Delhi. I guess I was the first guy from the Ridge Wood hostel who got through the IIT Joint Entrance Examination. I am just completing my Bachelors in Computer Science and Engineering and moving to Bangalore to join Trilogy Software. Bangalore is supposed to be a cool place ...lots of pubs to chill out .. hoping for the best.

I spent quite some time last year working on my final year project on Test Data Compression under Dr. Santanu Chattopahdyay, my guide at IIT Guwahati. One of the other prof's I admire is Prof. Gautam Barua or gb (geebee) as he is populary known as .. and yes he is quite popular. Prof. gb is one of the very few IITians who came back to the IIT system as a professor. He graduated from IIT Bombay and has been the Head of the Computer Science Department at IIT Kanpur. He has recently taken over the post of Director at IIT Guwahati and has some great plans for IIT Guwahati. Prof. Sajith is the smartest (read 'fundoo') professor at IIT Guwahati. He makes Theoretical Computer Science look like a piece of cake.
