NIRVA Thai Art & Technology proudly introduces you to one of our best artisan, Niwate Waewsamana. Niwate experts in Puppet Performance and Puppet Production.
Niwate Waewsamana is interested in Thai drawing and has high inspiration to create his own puppet. Firstly, he's studied from Thai art books for a few months, and practiced the drawing by himself. After a while, he was able to create puppets successfully.
During working in this field for a couple of years, Niwate had a chance to meet Teacher 'Chusri Sakulkaew', National Artist in Puppet Performance field (1986 AD). Niwate became a student of Teacher Chusri, and studied the art of Puppet Acting.

Teacher Chusri taught Niwate about the history of Thai Puppet Art and the Art of Puppet Performance. The heart of Puppet Performance is the emotion and the rhythm, and how to manipulate a puppet imitating human dancing. |
|
The process of puppet production starts from molding rasin and carving the puppet's head figure. In the past, it was made of light wood. The next step is to carve a headdress, crown and jewelry at sideburns. Then, artist primes the puppet with black lacquer before covering it with gold leaves (24K gold foil) |
