COMMANDING
This battery was organized November 20, 1861, under Capt. Cullen Bradley, and attached to the Sherman Brigade. It was comprised four two pound Parrot guns and two six pound Rodmans, and went to the field in December joining Buell's army in Kentucky.
It engaged the enemy at Mill's Springs, and in April, 1862, joined Halleck's advance on Corinth.; In September it moved north in pursuit of Bragg and was present at the battle of Perryville
In December the Battery took an active part in the battle of Stone River, and in September, 1863, it fought at Chickamauga, firing nearly 400 rounds.
It was present at Mission Ridge, and in the spring of 1864 followed Sherman's victorious march on Atlanta, taking a active part in all the battles and seige operations.
It followed Hood north and participated in the battles of Franklin and Nashville and joined in the pursuit south as far as Huntsville, Alabama.
It remained at Hunstville until the close of the war and was finally mustered out September 1, 1865.

This battalion was formed with five companies in the spring of 1862. Crute states that some of the men were from Augusta and Richmond counties, but, to date, my research has shown Fulton, Muscogee and Gwinnett counties.
The battalion served first in Georgia, then was transferred to Tennessee and assigned to the command of Gen. H. Marshall. It was active in southwest Virginia and the Knoxville, TN campaign, then was transferred to the Department of Richmond in 1864 and stationed at Chaffin's Bluff, VA. The battalion participated in the Petersburg Siege and served as infantry under Gen. C. A. Evans in the Appomattox Campaign. It was surrendered on April 9, 1865 at Appomattox with 1 officer and 19 men.
