The Story

The story begins three months after the events in The Ocarina of Time. It starts out like this: Link guides Epona through the mist in search of Navi, his fairy sidekick from Ocarina. Suddenly two fairies appear out of the fog and startle Epona, Link's horse.
These two fairies are brother and sister, I've heard three different names for them;Tatl and Tael, Chat and Trail, and Bell and Mondo; I'm not sure which one of these is right, but personally I like Mondo and Bell the best. Epona buck Link off and he gets knocked unconscious, as a Skull Kid, wearing the mystic Majora's Mask (hence the games name), emerges from the fog. Skull Kid, possessed by the evil mask steals Link's Ocarina and makes a quick get away on Epona.

Link wakes up and pursues the thieving little...thief, not knowing that he is this is no ordinary Skull Kid. Link, then, still unknowing follows the Skull Kid through a portal to a parallel universe; Termina.
Termina is home to doubles of many of the inhabitants of Hyrule, lots of the locations are similar too. But many other features and inhabitants of Termina are unique to this eerily familiar new world.

Unfortunately for Link one of the first things he notices is a huge moon hanging in the sky, grimacing down on the inhabitants of Termina. Link soon discovers that the moon won't be there for long as it is on a kamikaze mission to destroy Termina by crashing into the land in three short days (dun dun dun...). So now Link has to find the Skull Kid in possession of the evilly evil Majora's Mask, and work out some way to stop the moon from crashing down on Termina, as this could slightly shorten Link's ongoing career as a hero, not to mention his life. And he has 72 hours to do it in, no pressure though.
