Socioeconomics

Socioeconomics refers to the financial aspect of developing obesity. This mainly revolves around the amount of income a family has and how that impacts their ability to prevent childhood obesity. The lower the income the more difficult it is to prevent obesity from occurring.

Income

There was only one significant study in the socioeconomic area and it involved children of military personnel. It described relations between obesity in children and the rank of their guardian. The lower the rank the more obese the children were. This was due to the socioeconomic status of the guardian (Tiwary & Holguin, 1992).
