Storytelling; Ways of knowing about health
A story is the articualtion of an event or series of events portrayed written or orally.  Stories have the ablity emmulate shared beliefs and depict values at a
cultural level.  Stories also provide  a means of preserving the common characteristics of a culture and passing them on through generations.  Storied aid in conveying cultural values, provide guidelines to help people cope with milestones or transitions and assist people in finding their way in the world.  Stories articulate the more universal yearning or struggles of humans.  In this capacity, they help us answer more abstract or existential questions such as the meaning of life in general or of our lives in particular.  Storytelling has many benifits.  Storytelling may be used as a therapeutic intervention, strengthening the client nurse relationship.  With this insight, we hope that you explore our website relating to stoytelling where we focus on the aborigional oral tradtion of storytelling.
