| There are many reasons for storytelling in the clinical setting. Storytelling may be useful for the healthcare team to better understand their client's lived experiences and their culture. This in turn helps empower the client. This also helps the healthcare team provide culturally appropriate and sensitive care. Storytelling is also useful in teaching clients how to better care for themselves. Healthcare providers can convey their teachings, within stories, in order to educate in an understandable, memorable way. REFERENCES: Banks-Wallace, J. (1999).
